I would never normally write so much on a hotel review, or write anything at all, but I believe in calling out good things and giving credit where credit is due just as much (if not more) than bad experiences and critiques, which are far more commonplace. So: the rooms are decent, if fairly dated and in need of updating. They felt clean though, and the bed was very comfortable in the King suite I had...which I was given by the front desk associate who automatically upgraded my room upon check-in due to my membership in IHG rewards and platinum leveleee, so excellent loyalty recognition there and the upgrade without my having even requested it was great customer service, which I thought this hotel did quite well. All of the interactions I had with the staff (particularly front desk) were great and I found all of the associates to be accommodating, from the exchange of a $10 bill for $10 in quarters for the on-site laundry room, to the associate who took it upon herself to keep me in the same room the following day even though I was due to check out but she saw my last-minute reservation I made and extended my stay for me in the same upgraded suite without my even having called to inform her to do so, and without harassing calls from the hotel freaking out over my need to check out/in for night #2 as so many other hotels do to you, which I find distasteful. That is going above and beyond the minimal call of duty some hotel staff find acceptable and I was grateful and impressed. The breakfast (for a Holiday Inn Express continental free buffet breakfast) is out of this world. In terms of free Continental buffet-style hotel breakfasts, there's is hands down the best and most diverse I've ever had. Excellent job there. All around a short stay filled mostly with business away from the hotel, but an experience that still stands out to me for the hotel aspect itself due mainly to the service it provided which made my entire trip easier and more enjoyable. Highly...
Read moreUpon arrival at 2:00pm on 16 July 2024, while still in the parking lot unloading our luggage, we were approached by a male, from all appearances appeared in a desperate condition. He proceeded to ask us for money. I politely told him that we did not have any money to give him. Something snapped in this man and he commenced to cursing us out. Present were my wife, father-in-law and daughter. I immediately reported this odd individual and his behavior to the two women at the front desk and asked them to call the police. Both looked like they didn’t know what to do. I again asked for them to call the police at which time the younger of the two women followed me outside where I identified the man, now across the side street. I asked her to call the police once again and she said that “he was too far away to do anything about”. I made a reference to, this must have happened before in the past. The younger woman said that they had not ever seen this guy, leading me to believe this type of thing has happened in the past. I even asked/told them that they knew this behavior happened before and neither said a word. No I’m sorry this happened to you, no apology no nothing from the front desk staff. What this man did not know is that we are concealed carry permit holders and just how close he came to being dealt with.
I relayed this information to the two women at the front desk and they gave me the indifferent look. I did ask them what it would look like if something serious had happened on their hotel property and neither said a word.
The hotel is obviously not in the best part of the city and one must stay aware of their surroundings not only around town, but in the parking lot of the hotel.
Here for two nights and off to a horrible start. I guess we’ll see how it...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and was extremely disappointed with the entire experience. I’ve stayed at this location before without any issues, but this time was a complete letdown.
I booked my room through the IHG Travel Advisor site, and booked for a client, where I found what I thought was a good rate under the “best available rate.” After receiving my confirmation, I thought everything was set. However, when I went to check-in, my card was charged again, causing it to be flagged. My friend ended up using her card, but when we looked at the charges, the total was $50 more than what I was originally quoted. This is a major concern because had I booked this for a client, they would have been hit with an unexpected charge.
When I asked the desk clerk for an explanation, they claimed the hotel charges a $50 fee for incidentals, even though my confirmation clearly stated it would be a $25 charge, already included in the total. This was incredibly frustrating, as I was not informed of the discrepancy.
Additionally, the air conditioning in our room didn’t work, making for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. To top it off, the housekeeping staff began working very early in the morning, and their supply closet was extremely close to our room. They were loudly yelling down the hall, which was extremely disrespectful to guests trying to sleep.
All in all, I am very disappointed with this stay and will not be returning. I won’t be booking any future stays with IHG properties, nor will I recommend them to clients. The lack of communication, unaddressed issues, and the failure to honor my confirmed rate left me feeling...
