Transit accessibility from VIA route 24 in Houston Street. Bus stops within half a block but lacking shade structures and Nirmal minimum width for bus to deploy ramp when needed. I witnessed one passenger waiting on the next lot under a tree because there was nowhere for her wheelchair nor shade at bus stop. Bus driver stopped for another passenger standing in sun but likely would not have noticed passenger waiting in wheelchair under tree if there had not been another passenger. In a few years the Silver Line will go across Houston Street in this area but customers access until then is close but inadequate. Restaurant entrance and sidewalk are ADA-compliant. Door complies with maximum closing force limits--something our local inspectors don't enforce, so it's good to see a business meeting the law. Wheelchair-accessible space in shade outside as well. But physical access does not mean employees have attitude of access. I expected baked goods to be loaded with refined sugar as per numerous conversations I've had with employees of Green Vegetarian Cuisine who say "Yes, but it's healthy because it's vegan" when customers complain about overwhelming sweetness. But every month I attend a meeting where we share food before and one member always days she is vegan and asks each person who brought food if it is vegan. So I dropped by--there is transit access right to intersection of Houston Street at Hackberry but bus stops are across Hackberry where sidewalks not have appropriate width for wheelchair access. Shaded area outside restaurant was very attractive and providing some space to wait a moment until closer for next bus to arrive before being fried by sun at bus stop. I ate a bean wrap which most would call a soft taco but it had substantial tortilla and oily like a chimichanga burrito. Nonetheless that was culinary highlight of trip and more than adequate for a hot day. At our meeting, the sugar smell of the doughnuts was so strong we could smell it some distance from the food table and members commented on sugar being more dangerous than meet in regard to health. Two vegan members opted to slice a doughnut in half and each eat half due to sugariness. At end of meeting the vegan doughnuts were only items left on food table and although people commented on how attractive they looked no one wanted something loaded with sugar. One of the vegan family members commented next meeting they are going to bring...
Read moreWanted to try after they offered a surplus in Too Good To Go. Got Here 10 min early drove literally 35min. They canceled 5min before saying there's no surplus knowing we were outside waiting. Wow! The girl told us to exit the establishment if we're not going to purchase anything because she needed to clean. Really sucks because we had heard about you guys for years and never had time to try. There's few vegan options and with this service there will be less in the city. Can't believe you guys would cancel five minutes before and have someone drive never has happened with any other Too Good to Go. Treating people like your waiting for your scraps. Update 3/19 you could have let us known in the restaurant that you weren't going to have anything and we could have made a judgement then. My husband was going to buy something and support you for full price items but didn't seem interested in explaining or suggesting something. An apology or explaining we might not have anything would have been nice. Just a...
Read moreOrdered a custom cake for my daughter‘s birthday, communication was exceptional leading up to pick up day. Cake was exactly what I wanted. Price was steep, but expected with it being a vegan custom cake. We were told there was no need to refrigerate the cake as it was vegan. Great care was made to transport the cake to my daughter‘s birthday party the following morning. No major highways were taken, no sudden turns. The cake completely collapsed. There were no supports within the cake even though it was three layers. I had to try to put the cake back together as best I could. I sent the bakery pictures and notification and letting them know that in the future, they should consider adding supports to Multi layer cakes. Customers pay a lot of money for these beautiful cakes and it would be wonderful to be able to enjoy them the way they were intended. I never received a response back.
The flavor was extremely sweet, but delicious. Unfortunately, I would probably not order a custom cake from the bakery...
