This was not at all how I wanted my night to go dining at Fogo. Really thought since this place was located downtown in a nicer area it would be better than its competitors like Chama Gaucha but that was far from the truth .
First, we had a reservation set for 8pm. They told us give them a couple of minutes which is understandable but, we ended up waiting half an hour that’s not how reservation work. Might as well have just walked in.
Second, after going to the salad bar and then coming back when we had sat down and ate all the salad, we had simply asked for new plates, which is part of the experience and service, The server then told us to give him a little moment as he had to work with another table right after he worked with another table. I watched him walk back-and-forth. Avoid eye contact with us. 5 to 10 minutes after that he never gave us our new plates. And after being tired of waiting, I had to get up, go to the and retrieve my own plate and everyone else as well. The server is also as well barely ever came to our table, and when I had a friend of mine dropped their silverware they never brought her new ones after asking multiple times again just avoiding eye contact.
Third, only two meats came by our table, which is the garlic steak And the filet mignon. The quality of the state The price of it. The filet mignon was tough and chewy and the garlic steak mainly just had fat. We had also waited about 20 to 30 minutes for more meat to come out before anyone had asked us if we wanted anything else. We literally had one of the meat servers come and tell us that Some of the meat people skipped us, and never even came back to our table at all.
Fourth, The sides came out Cold and Hard as Rock the mashed potatoes tasted like instant mashed potatoes. that you make in the microwave.
I don’t usually complain but I felt it was fair to since my check came out to $141.00. I believe I pay for the service that I received and the service that I received was worse service than I received at a damn. I’m not asking for a foot message and someone to fan me, I asked for a plate and good quality food. Aaliyah was the only helpful one during that whole experience. We had asked the manager three times before one had approached us and we had told her everything that had happened and everything that I had mentioned she then took $50 off each of our checks only making us pay for the salad which I’m still determining if that was still seeing it came out to $87 dollars for self...

Staff greeted us seated us semi quickly for how busy it was and then throughout the entire thing someone was at the table checking on us. Servers were charismatic and they made sure we were good before leaving made some additional French fries for my niece who loves fries without us even having to open our mouths to ask. I liked that.
Atmosphere was very nice up to standard of the other high quality restraunts I've been too.
The open bar set up could use a little more safe guards if I'm being honest it's too many hands going over the bar area and some people were using the same utensils to pick up different things. Using the tomatoe soup spoon for the beans and rice it was a mess, saw people using the same tongs to pick up multiple items at the salad bar I asked for more utensils and clean ones since I have certain food allergies I have to make sure things I am uncertain don't mix.
The food was good I didn't go brag to anyone about it there were certain things that I was like this is cooked too perfection but there were more things that got pushed to the side. Overly salty/seasoned or cooked tough were my main dislikes. Everything was hot upon arrival though. the chicken I was not expecting to have a horrible chicken experience at a restraunt of this caliber dried out and tough I had it twice just to make sure the first one wasn't a mistake before writing this review at least if your going to bring me something thats not steak it has to be good enough to make me forget im at a steak house like that sausage link that was great. I had multiple cuts of the same meats and it just wasn't consistent enough for me but the quality of the meats were all high so Im not saying they didn't have good cuts of meat and I'm not saying all their food was bad because I didn't have everything on the menu and they had alot of good items which is why I still gave a 4 star. Read moreI have always raved about how good of service that Fogo has. I have recommended many people to go here but after last night I will no longer be doing that. We had horrible service! Our waitress checked on us literally once. I do give it to the managers they did keep touching the table and make sure we were doing ok. The gauchos were lacking not as face paced as they were the past few times we have gone. My girlfriend chose this spot for her birthday dinner and it was a let down for both of us. We were just ready to get out of there the did comp a dessert (strawberry cheesecake) we opted to take it to go. My other half took it out for us to enjoy and noticed something on the “fresh” strawberry. It had dirt all over it and they even cut it in half and did not notice the dirt? That’s just horrible! I will no longer be going back to this establishment or recommending it.
Update: received a call from fogo to discuss my review. We discussed the issues of that day. Amber is who I spoke to. She was a little argumentative and gave a rundown on how they operate. When discussing the strawberry being dirty and that it was cut in half and not noticed she responds “it was not cut it half in the photos” I agree it doesn’t look like it is in the photos but it 100% was. She then says she was going to review the cameras to see how many times our waitress came to the table. After a few minutes she called back saying that they will be emailing a gift card to my email (I still have not received it).
