Honest review, been buying from here since 2020 . The one positive thing that separates them from other lfs is their diverse selection of fresh and saltwater fish but besides that they are no different from any other LFS . They will lie to make a buck , they will trash talk competitors, they sell fish and coral of all conditions ( healthy , sick , dying , etc ) they will sugar coat it or blame your water quality or husbandry even though you see dead fish in their tanks . Quick tip to spot a lie if they say they treat their system in copper or whatever medication walk around and see what's connected to their system. It's a quick Google search to learn copper wrecks havoc on inverts and Coral so apply common sense and you will know . When it comes to trades in they will give you nothing even though competitors will give you store credit or a few inexpensive coral frags . They don't do refunds or exchanges unless you speak with the wife or daughter/neice they might because they understand you want your regulars to stay regulars . I remember when they had zuzu and her bf work there and i overhead them arguing about who was going to break the news to their regular , they were temporarily holding a fish for a regular till they finish moving and setting up their new tank but the owners sold it right away . I have bought fish that lived , died , wiped out my tank in the past but at the end of the day I knew it's out of their control i still continued to shop here . Unfortunately today is the last day I'm shopping there . They sold me epoxy after I griefed about using super glue gel . If you Google or look at reef forums you will found out epoxy is risky to use and if you do use it to run a extra air stone and carbon . I didn't know that and lost my designer clownfish. I contacted them and they apologized but that was it and when I ask what can they do about it they ignored me . Felt like I got screwed over . They could of atleast refunded the epoxy and offered a cheap frag from their 25 dollar section but they make no effort. At least the brand of epoxy made some effort in keeping me as a customer and offered a complimentary mystery box for...

The first time I went I purchased a Java fern, a day later I noticed spots all over my betta and my schooling fish. I began treatment, and eventually got rid of the Ich/Ick. Had to buy multiple supplies to effectively get rid of the Ich. I bought aquarium salt, Ich meds, etc, from a nearby pet store retailer. I began trying to figure out where the Ich came from.
About a month later I decided I wanted another Java Fern bundle, which is when I figured out where the Ich came from. I happily purchased the plant, brought it home and rinsed it, and introduced it to my 20 gallon long tank.(nothing else was introduced to the tank in that timeline) well, again, a day or two later, my tank was infested with ich. I'm currently treating it to get rid of it, again. However, I'll never buy from pet world again, I just wanted to warn everyone to know what they're dealing with.
The tanks are dirty with various dead fish in various tanks. They dip their hands into one tank, and without washing hands, dip their arms into another tank. Thus spreading Ich across tanks.
With all the workers you would think they would have clean tanks.
It's extremely stressful having to deal with Ich, both for me and my fish community, plants, shrimp, snails, etc etc.
Never had this issue at the nearby petsmarts, Petco, etc.
Would highly recommend Elliot's Pet Emporium, which is down the street, with a much cleaner, friendlier, and healthier environment for the fish and the workers. Or Petsmart which is also right down the street. (When a retail chain treats their fish better, you know...
Read moreI'm a Discus fish keeper and this is one of the few local fish stores that sell great quality Discus fish in the inland empire region. Their fish are imported from Vietnam and according to one of the employees they are quarantined for about 8 or 10 days before being shipped to the store. ...cant remember how many days. Discus are expensive fish so the prices for large Discus were quite expensive going up to $200 and for the medium size discus about 3.5-4.4 inch cost $ 80. You could probably get cheaper larger size Discus online but their medium discus are about average cost. I have purchased four discus from them 3 medium and one large size none have died so far and I did quarantine them for a week before adding them to my main display tank. I don't give them the full stars because I did purchase a large discus fish on impulse without doing my research but later I found out that keeping large discus with smaller discus is not recommended since the adult produce a growth inhibiting hormone that prevent the smaller fish from growing to their full potential according to the late discus expert Jack Wattley. So I returned the $200 fish but only got a $ 60 dollar store credit! I used the credit to purchase a medium discus. I felt ripped off. the only reason why I will still buy a discus fish from this place is because they sell great quality semi adult discus that have their full colors. So if your looking for a discus and are hesitant to buy online try this place but just don't mix large discus with smaller...
