This place used to be so neat when I was a child. My grandfather would take me with him when he sold baseball cards and it was always so fun to check out all the different things people were selling - from garage sale style items to homemade furniture - it was always interesting. When I went last weekend it was entirely different. They had a vintage market going on which was interesting and I will be going to when they have it again near Christmas. But the remainder of the swap meet felt smaller and less quality than it was 20 years ago. I did pick up a lovely plant from a local farmer - and there were a few others with beautiful plants as well (HUGE orchids!!) so that was a unexpected win. We found some really well priced phone cords from a nice girl who seemed more legit than some of the other stands selling electronics - got 2 10+ ft iPhone extension cords for $12 and they work great - something I was looking at getting for my desk solved. But everything else was a bit messy and weirdly spread out. Way fewer food vendors as well and an odd DJ who kept switching songs mid-track and playing a fun oldies song and then laying bad dubstep over it and ruining it - definitely an odd music choice for a Saturday morning swap meet. I am hoping this was a one off because everyone I speak to mentions Kobey's with such fondness. But it's definitely not like...
Read moreStaff and other vendors were very nice and welcoming. I came late Friday afternoon to walk the show and talk to vendors. It was dead. I asked for the attendance numbers and they said 6-8k on Friday, 8-10k on Saturday and 10-12k on Sunday. I only purchased a space for Saturday which cost me $40. I made a total of $200 and only saw 600-800 ppl. So take their figures and divide by 10! That is quite an exaggeration! I could see 10-20% off but not such a blatant overstatement. I was selling used items in the garage sale area. Very gently used baby/kids clothes and shoes and nice brands like Polo, True Religion and Jordan sneakers. It was worse than a garage sale. I dont have to pay $40 for a garage sale space. The other vendors said it was terrible for them too, even those selling new items. Not sure what could actually make it worth it to sell here but I think there are a lot easier ways to make $200. Probably will not be back as a vendor unless i come across things that I get free or nearly free and dont care what i...
