Sarah didn’t know how to do acrylic nails when I came into the nail salon I told them I needed a fill in with acrylic. They told me yes and told me to sit down. One lady originally started on my nails and stopped after taking the polish off then the next lady who name was Sarah came over started on my nails she tried to put a buildup gel on my nails. I asked her what is she doing and she just told me yes this is acrylic. I told her this is not the way I get my nails done so then she got an attitude and had to take the stuff off and they told me I had to wait 15 minutes for somebody to come over to apply the actual powder and acrylic that I originally had on my nails. After someone came and did it, Sarah came back to finish the product off doing the filing and the rest of the work such as buffing the nails and applying the polish. Mind you they did not have to add any fake nails. They did not have to do a lot of work because my nails were basically already done. I just needed a fill in by the end of this whole thing they charge me $70 just for that and mind you I wasn’t pleased in the beginning. I loved the way my nails look at the end, but I feel completely ripped off because I wasn’t very happy.
I literally told them if you did not do acrylic fill-ins you should’ve told me in the beginning and I wouldn’t have wasted my time, but they made me feel like they were so money hungry and they have the nerve to feel like I should tip them when they are already ripping me off asking for $70 just for my hands I didn’t get no design just something basic. I spent $80 total only because I did like my nails. But before they did it the way that I told them to do it they originally was trying to take the easy way out by putting a gel builder on my nails when I specifically told them exactly what was already going on with my nails so that’s my disappointment and it took three people to do my nails so I thought that was crazy to be charged $70 for not great service usually when you get an acrylic fill-in it’s usually from anywhere for them $40-$50 and they did not even have to do any work for real just being honest because my nails were already on my fingers. It was only a basic fill in with a basic nude color. I don’t usually complain about the price but I definitely felt ripped off.

Read moreI made the design I want easier for my nail tech and it’s still came out terribly. I have attached my inspiration photo and I showed my nail tech the top left & right sets that I wanted to emulate. I appreciate that they took a lot of time to do my nails, but it still looks sloppy. For two and a half hours in the chair, I would’ve appreciated a more neater job. Not to be dramatic but these nails are probably the worst set I’ve ever had in my life. I guess this is what I get for being impatient when all my nail techs are out of town. I get acrylics and was flamed for the fact that they are not good for my nails but at least they look better than this.
Added to review a day later: I recently had my set removed and visited the amazing @thenailmami on IG. She pointed out that LUX SF didn’t push my cuticles back or clean up around them, and that my nails already looked like they needed a fill, which was disappointing on top of the issues I mentioned earlier.
After a weekend: What made things worse was the experience with the tipping process at LUX SF. I brought this up to other nail techs and friends: LUX SF asked me how much I wanted to tip, which led to an uncomfortable conversation. Even though I expressed that I wasn’t happy with the service, they suggested I should tip more because my nail tech took a long time. I didn’t realize that asking how much to tip isn’t typically considered okay, but either way, I didn’t appreciate feeling pressured...
Read moreI went to LUX SF for the first time today excited to get my nails done for my baby shower this weekend. When I walked in, I was given the opportunity to choose my color. I asked if I could try 5 of them on first to see what they’d look like on me. They said yes, of course!
I asked for the color numbers I wanted to try. 2/5 colors that were brought out were incorrect, it’s okay, it happens. I politely asked for the trays so I could point to the 2 right colors again. The person doing my manicure, Lee, got very impatient with me. I finally found the right colors and asked to try them on as well.
After trying the 2 new colors on, I ended up picking from the original 3 because the new ones didn’t go well on my skin tone, even though they looked great on the palette. Lee just got really angry with me for not choosing the new colors they brought out, so unprofessional! She was like “Then why did you make us get it?”. I was quite taken aback. Bring 8 months pregnant, I’m also more emotional than usual so it put a whole damper on my mood for the rest of the service.
The only reason this is a 2 star review as opposed to a 1 star review is because the nails were actually done well. The person doing my pedicure, Mary, was really nice as well. The talent itself if good, just make sure you get an employee that’s respectful so you can have a...
