Employees: Kind, friendly, professional, hardworking. They were all great.

Hotel building: Old. I noticed the carpet in the main areas were dirty. I kept thinking it needed professional cleaning and it kind of smelled like old cigarette smoke despite being a non-smoking facility. It has a working elevator at least. It even talks when you get on and off. Also the dining area is well-kept and clean.

Hotel room bathroom: Bathroom was clean. I was a big fan of the cleanliness. The toilet needed stronger water pressure though, had to flush a few times to flush toilet paper. Would've also loved a water hose at the shower. The sink faucets were also a little too close to the back of the sink bowls. Other than that the bathroom was well taken care of, there were no signs of rust or calcium build up from water. The floor and counters were nice and shiny and the large mirror was smudge-free. The window is also large and brightens up the bathroom a lot during the day.

Hotel room: Clean pillows. I have a contact allergy to dust mites and did not get hives on my face at all. The pillows could be softer and fluffier though. I was not comfortable with the pillows. Besides that, the air conditioning is great because it can get hot in the room. The refrigerator was also convenient. Also the room smelled somewhat better than being out in the lobby.

Noise: Quiet. Some occasional noises from other guests (doors slamming, loud footsteps) but very quiet otherwise. Good noise-proof rooms. You can only hear noise by the doors but I couldn't hear neighbors (they were talking which I couldn't hear until I passed their door outside to get to my room) when I was in my room which is great. I turned on my tv without fear of disturbing them.

Unrelated but I was over at my friends' rooms at Hotel Kabuki to visit during the day and it was a lot more constantly noisy over there to the point where you hear traffic and outside conversations with the windows closed. Hotel Majestic didn't have this issue.

Location: quiet neighborhood. Not a lot of cars compared to by Japantown. The walk from Hotel Majestic to Japantown is close and at a downhill walk. But if you walk from Japantown to Hotel Majestic, it is a steep uphill climb. I was pretty tired and stopped to take a breather once on the way there (I walked up 2 different times and took a break both times). It's a relatively safe neighborhood. Going towards Japantown it's safer but going the opposite way past the hotel is more sketchy even according to the receptionist I spoke to.

Food options: Lots of food options during the day near Japantown and you can go to the supermarkets and buy bentos (or order at restaurants) to bring back to your hotel room. Not much during the night unless you order pizza delivery or outside food delivery service.

Complimentary breakfast service: they offered it from 7-10am. At the time I saw coffee, decaf coffee, and orange juice. Also had bread options, scrambled eggs, jelly, watermelon, cereal/milk, hardboiled eggs, and sausages. They had some more simple options which I do not remember. It was enough for me to have some bread, scrambled eggs, and watermelon. I recall they also had coffee in the lobby outside of breakfast.

Also different note, I was quite spooked about being in a potentially haunted hotel, but didn't have any weird experiences in the 2 nights I stayed. Didn't stop me from being paranoid though as a solo...

I would put this hotel in the category of a motel. I think they just charge the money that they charge as it is in the heart of San Francisco. Other than that a room at this hotel is not worth more than say $70 or $75/night. The lobby is great and the area where this hotel is, is great as well. However that's about it as nothing else beyond the front desk is great about this hotel. We checked in and from the elevator (which took ages to go up from the lobby area to the 5th floor) to the water in the shower was all crappy and a terrible experience.

We get to the room and upon entering it looking like a decent and clean room. However after stepping inside, the first thing I wanted to do was open the windows due to a stale/old smell coming from the room. I realized that the windows are old style and one of them had the lock broken and our window had a emergency stair case right outside it so with the broken lock it would be very easy for someone to come in and either harm us or steal our stuff. I just stuck a pen in the lock area and hoped that no one would do anything bad. The window would not stay open and kept falling down and the other window did not open at all!

The bathroom was super tiny and the shower curtains were put as if they were just thrown around and they kept sticking to the body while taking a shower. Now for the worst part ever - the water from the shower was literally just dripping! There was no pressure whatsoever! I felt like I could have a better shower with the water pressure/flow in the sink!

The cupboard in the room was old style and everytime I walked near it (without even touching it), it would start creaking. I am not sure if the floor was creaking or the cupboard was creaking but it just sounded like it was right out a horror movie. When I actually opened the cupboard, the door kept swinging on its own and making such loud noises as if it hadn't been oiled in a year or whatever.

The WiFi was extremely pathetic. Imagine this, my sprint network was faster than the Wifi in the hotel. I am sure those of you who have used/use Sprint Cell network know how pathetic that it is and now imagine the Wifi in the hotel being even crappier than that!

Luckily we were staying there just for 1 night as our purpose was to get a place to crash after partying in SF and head out back to South bay the next day, where we live.

I would never ever recommend this hotel to anyone ever. For the money we paid for 2 rooms, I feel that we could have just taken a cab and gone back home from SF...

This may well be the first PREview in Google history. We have just booked a week-long stay at the Majestic Hotel based on the reviews and photos that we have seen on Google. My husband and I are Alaskans and although we, and especially he, have driven and walked by the Majestic many times while visiting a family member who lives just down the street from the hotel, we’ve never had the occasion to go inside. On this upcoming trip we decided that we would like to give the Majestic a try and give our family member a break from putting us up. We communicated via email with the owner and immediately felt good vibes from him. We are very much looking forward to our stay, and to seeing if it meets or even exceeds our expectations. We’ll write a REview after our stay to let other potential guests know how things turned out for us and perhaps offer suggestions to future customers as to their bookings. We given the Majestic a presumptive 5-star rating in anticipation that it will prove to be the case! Francoise and Ted Gianoutsos, Anchorage, Alaska. PS: we’ve included a few of our photos of beautiful Alaska!

And, after staying at the Majestic all of last week, here is our review. It certainly exceeded our expectations. Our room was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. We enjoyed every moment that we spent there. The owner, Vicky Patel, a member of the illustrious Patel motel/hotel family, was very kind and accommodating. All of the staff, and especially Amit, made us feel welcome and responded quickly and well to all of our questions and requests. After a very enjoyable week at the Majestic, we would unhesitatingly give it a 6 star rating if we could. Of course, the guest-host relationship is the key to any hotel stay. We’ve always been good guests respectful of our host and their establishment. They sense and appreciate our understanding of the guest-host equation and in return we always get excellent service, sometimes very much exceeding what we expect from our host. That was certainly the case with Vicky Patel and his Majestic Hotel. Thanks for a great week, we’ll most assuredly come again! Françoise and Ted Gianoutsos, Anchorage, Alaska. PS: we’ve added a few photos from exquisite Muir Woods north of San Francisco, that as nature lovers we...
