The Marina at Pier 39 — Attraction in San Francisco

CULTURE: Lively. Funky. Tight knit community. Unlike all other marinas. Everybody has a unique mariner experience. The yacht club is the luau bar next to the office. Price of admission whatever you’re drinking. This compared to my experience at the South Beach Harbor where there are 700 berths yet I know only a few sailors. MARINA PROS: Close haul to ocean sailing and immediate access to the most intense bay sailing. Berths are available. No waiting. Inexpensive MARINA CONS: Not well protected from surge, current and wind. Boats need special rigging which includes Vespa tires
