I went here as a tale end of a trip. It was supposed to be a highlight, but the experience was actually terrible.
Here is context:
They were not busy. We had an amtrak meal voucher and were not sure how to use it. We called the day before to make a reservation because amtrak told us that we needed to make a reservation and were told that we did not and to just show up and show our form from Amtrak.
When we were seated we told our waiter we had a voucher and they said they had to get their manager since they weren't sure what to do and we had a seperate menu. (This is fair and we also were not sure how this worked.) Their manager came over and was obviously annoyed that we had an amtrak voucher. We filled out the form and they asked what we wanted. We weren't sure of the options so they quickly said the titles with no context. Did not ask how I wanted my steak and left.
The waiter actually had to come back to confirm the orders we had already given the manager.
We were asked if we wanted drinks, we said sure two sprites (no refills were given at any point). The waiter did not check on us as often as other tables. We got up to leave when we were done eating assuming the pop was included with the meal (which we paid for months ago when booking) and were rudely and loudly stopped.
$12 for two sprites after an extremely uncomfortable dinner, we were also not told we needed to pay for the sprites. Since we did not get checked on as frequently this felt like something that could have been easily avoided. The waiter did soften their tone at the end when they realized we really were just not sure how this worked, but for a slightly more expensive restaurant I expect better. (Honestly have had better service from a Dennys)
For the service we were given I would never recommend this place. The redeeming factor was the location, but honestly there are many other places with a nice view locally so check those out instead.
Edit: my friend ordered the salmon and is now sick with food poisoning a few hours after...
Read moreVery Disappointed. I will remain objective in this review to say the least. 2x wine 1x beer 1x child spaghetti 3x clam chowder 2x fisherman's platter 1x baked salmon 1x clam linguine
Negatives 10 minute wait for a drink order followed by a 10 minute wait for a food order
The clam chowder was good, but served slightly warmer than luke warm.
I ordered a basket of sourdough bread which was served cold, refrigerated, and not freshly baked. The basket was also served with cold butter. I implore you to try to spread cold butter on cold bread. I requested the sourdough be heated in the oven. Which came back slightly warm.
Fisherman's Platter x2 Two orders of this entree resulted in double the disappointment. For $30 each, the fried calamari was a bit wet. Cooked decently but wet. No flavor, no season, not even salt or pepper could fix this. The fried shrimp came out as right as it should. The white fillet fish was disgusting. The display was good and looked delicious but left a bad bitter taste in the center of the fish and was somewhat spongy.
Our drinks were finished just as dinner arrived and stayed empty for the rest of the night.
My friene ate his shrimp and sent the rest back. I did my best to stomach the plate but came nowhere close, and we asked for them to be taken away. I expressed our displeasure with those platters and received a "sorry"
Positives Prompt seating. The food was cooked and served very promptly after order. All the plates looked proper and appeared delicious even though some quite deceiving.
The clam linguine noodles were very good and the clams were also good. I believe the noodles were intended to be eaten wet with all the fluid from the clams.
The baked salmon was probably the highlight of the dinner besides the child's spaghetti. The flavors were very rich and quite delicious.
Overall, not an experience I enjoyed for $230. And a casual dining experience is much more worth it elsewhere. Miserable service for a half...
Read moreStay away!!! No class, no experience, amateurs!!! Went here with a group of my students on a California field trip, all planned by the Tour company. We were treated like sheep. Our students (all well cultured High School aged) were given one plate for salad and then pasta. No room on the table for the food, everything just thrown down. Soda was warm and flat. I tried speaking with the manager, his response to me was "that's what your contract says, I'm going according to your contract". He kept repeating himself over and over! He actually starting getting loud with me when I questioned his judgment on how to serve accordingly and not make it so obvious that we were a one shot deal. One of our young ladies had hair in her pasta, the waiter who was extremely rude, sarcastic and mocking, tried to blame her for it even though it was a different size and color than her's. When he brought out a new plate, he continued to mock the whole table knowing they were not paying for the dinner themselves. The food was tasteless and so was the experience. Of all the restaurants we visited, my group felt this was by far the worst experience. On the way out I told them "look around, why do you think it's so dead on a Friday night at 6:30 pm compared to the other restaurants?" I've had the fortune of working in some of the best restaurants in Westchester, NY for 16 years, I am ashamed at how we were treated. As a consequence, we have contacted the Tour company directly, and are recommending they reconsider their contract with this restaurant. Don't they know that with modern technology and social media, sooner or later word will get out? Just look at their many poor reviews. I can't wait to here the managements response...
