There was so much that went wrong at our visit here yesterday. We drove 2.5 hrs just to come celebrate our wedding anniversary here yesterday and were looking forward to having a good time. We got there and were told by the hostess that the bar was empty and to sit there, so we did but all the tables were dirty hadn't been cleaned after other guests. We wait 10 min before someone came and cleaned it and then he started to spray the table with disinfectant cleaner and was spraying all over myself, my husband and son. I asked him to stop and spray on the towel then use it in the table don't splash us with cleaner! Our food came out and well my plate had dried up old rice on it and I asked the server to just bring fresh rice out since it was taking so long, they brought out my son's pizza 10 minutes later after our food was brought out then the manager came over on his own to tell us he's gonna bring over a bucket of fries (not sure what that was supposed to do, but ok) finally we get to eat and well my Stuffed shrimp was cold and being pregnant I was over the wait and went ahead and ate this cold plate of food. I was down to the last bite when I noticed that my shrimp was still RAW! That's right Raw! We told the manager and he took the plate to the chef who later came out to say that "it's not that bad it was partially raw" (ummm raw is raw and being a chef doesn't make you a doctor) I was disgusted and concerned about the wellness of my baby! Being pregnant and consuming raw shrimp can cause food poisoning but they didn't seem to concerned. They did remove the charge for my meal from our bill but that wasn't the concern, it was the fact that they are serving undercooked food without properly checking the temperature of the food! If it was properly checked then there would not have been any raw food on my plate and who know how many other peices were raw as well! It just happed that I moved the crab filling off my shrimp and then noticed that the vein was still on the back of my shrimp and it was red! I looked closely to see that it was still grey and not cooked! We have always enjoyed coming to Bubba Gump and this was a horrible experience. We were just told sorry and to let them know if something...
Read moreA truly memorable experience at Bubba Gump Shrimp — amazing food, top-notch service, and unbeatable views!
We had such a great time dining here. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed warmly by Claire, who absolutely nailed it with her service. She seated us at a dream table — right next to the window with a gorgeous view of the bay, Alcatraz, and even the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance. It was the kind of setting that makes you stop and soak in the moment. Claire was friendly, attentive, and on point the entire time — one of the best servers we’ve had in a long time!
We ordered three different plates and shared everything so we could try a bit of everything:
🦀 Crab and Shrimp Boil – A flavorful Southern-style seafood feast packed with perfectly cooked shrimp and crab legs, along with juicy sausage, corn on the cob, and red potatoes. Everything was seasoned perfectly and came out piping hot. Every bite felt like comfort food done right.
🐟 Forrest’s Seafood Feast – This platter had a little bit of everything — crispy fried shrimp, golden hush puppies, flaky fried fish, seasoned fries, and creamy coleslaw. The textures were spot on, and each bite had a nice balance of crunch and flavor. The hush puppies were surprisingly delicious — slightly sweet and perfectly fried.
🍤 Shrimp Heaven – My brother ordered this one, and it really lived up to its name! The plate came with three styles of shrimp: light and crispy tempura shrimp, sweet and crunchy coconut shrimp, and classic golden fried shrimp. It was a shrimp lover’s dream, and each style had its own unique taste and texture. He enjoyed every single bite!
The service was consistently excellent. Claire made sure we were taken care of without being overbearing. The food came out quickly, and the entire staff seemed to be working in sync, creating a really pleasant dining environment.
We left full, satisfied, and already talking about coming back. Between the beautiful setting, delicious food, and incredible service, this place is definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend — 5 stars...
Read moreWe visited Bubba Gump at Pier 39, excited to dine at a restaurant featured in one of our favourite films, Forrest Gump. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing.
On arrival, we were told there would be a 10–15 minute wait for a table but were welcome to begin at the bar. At the bar, we presented our national ID cards and offered soft copies of our passports to verify our age. These forms of identification have been accepted without issue at every other establishment we visited in the U.S. The irony is that we did not even intend to order alcoholic drinks, we were simply there to eat which made the insistence on seeing a physical passport unreasonable. Nevertheless, we were asked to vacate our seats, which felt unnecessarily hostile.
When we returned to the entrance, the door manager handled the situation with kindness and offered us a proper table right away so we sat again away from the bar. However, after we had been seated and waiting for 10-15 mins for the order to be taken, the store manager approached and abruptly asked us to leave. The justification given was that we had called the bar server “stupid” and used derogatory terms. This allegation is completely untrue. While we did express disappointment at being denied service despite presenting valid IDs, no insults or inappropriate language were used. We even asked the manager to check the CCTV footage, but this request was dismissed.
Being asked to leave twice, despite cooperating and showing restraint, was humiliating and deeply upsetting. The lack of professionalism and empathy shown by the management raises serious concerns about how non-American tourists are treated. What should have been a memorable meal at a globally recognised restaurant instead left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected.
This experience reflects poorly on the brand and suggests bias against international visitors. Bubba Gump has a global reputation, and it is disappointing that basic courtesy and respect were...
