Fuente Raíces is located at the end of "Paseo de la Princessa". The central figure is a goddess soaring into the sky, representing freedom. Surrounding elements include a horse emerging from the sea, symbolizing Puerto Rico as an island; two adults with a child, representing the Puerto Rican family; dolphins and a nymph, symbolizing hospitality; a jibaro and a black woman, representing African culture; and the central goddess, symbolizing freedom. The fountain is situated at the end of the Paseo de la Princesa, a scenic promenade in Old San Juan, offering picturesque views of San Juan Bay and the historic city walls. It is a popular spot for both locals and tourists, often serving as a backdrop for photographs and a gathering place for cultural events and performances.

There a lot to do and see in this area and this statue is one of them. This is a great example of (they don’t make them like they used to). Best time to visit is at sunset & night to see it light up. The surrounding view & atmosphere is amazing and romantic. There’s plenty of parking nearby and a nice optional pathway along the ocean to have a short walk to a pier and massive historic doorway. Also visiting during Christmas is a great time of year as well as when they have small festivals or craft shows. If you want quiet, avoid these times of year.
