Banana Republic — Local services in Santa Barbara

I was in CA for a week and a went to this BR. I love the chain, and I shop there often. Anyway I walked in and there was an older female associate organizing things but she never acknowledged me or asked what brought me in, etc. I found a button down I quite liked marked at 90ish dollars. I asked if there were currently any sales or promotions and she pretty condescendingly scoffed and told me no, but that I could apply for a credit card. Honestly had she been nice and helpful… which should be a minimal expectation of a retail associate (I’ve been in retail for many years) I would have bought it! Any, I bought it when I got back to TX. I know it’s in a nice shopping center and all but I live in Austin and my BR is in an even nice shopping center…. oh and the staff treat me well. I’ve had nothing but the best experience at this Banana Republic! The staff is always incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit enjoyable. A special shoutout to Kohl, who is absolutely amazing at putting outfits together. His keen eye for style and genuine enthusiasm have led me to purchase a few extra pieces I wasn’t even planning on—but no regrets!

What I appreciate most is that the team isn’t pushy at all. If they work on commission, you’d never know it because their focus is purely on helping customers, not making a sale. It’s refreshing to shop in an environment where the staff truly cares about making you feel confident in your choices.

The staff in this store are SO RUDE! For the second time I walked in and the guy working on the window display did not look my way, much less greet me. There were plenty of opportunities for him to do so and for the 10 minutes I was there, NADA. Ditto the woman who came in from the back room. I was so turned off by them and the clothing that I turned around and walked out. Not even a thank you for coming.
