Stayed 5 Nights Straight! So Good I Didn’t Want to Check Out 🏹

I’m really conflicted about this stay. The location itself was okay—close to the beach and food spots—but definitely not somewhere I’d feel safe walking around at night. There were a lot of unhoused people in the area, but that’s pretty common in California. What really upset me was the check-in process. I booked through a third party, which noted a $40 pay-at-property fee and warned about possible property taxes and resort fees due at check-in. Totally fair—I expected maybe an extra $100–$150. But after driving from Phoenix (up since 3 a.m., after working my day job, and heading to a gig in LA), I finally arrived, exhausted, only to be hit with surprise charges: a $300 security deposit plus property taxes. Nowhere in my confirmation or even in the text message I received was this mentioned. The front desk said it was “in the warning,” but as a company, you should be upfront and include this in the confirmation text. It felt misleading and frustrating, especially after such a long day of travel. After going back and forth with the front desk (cough cough
what a scam), I was told the $300 deposit was “required.” Supposedly, it will be refunded within 5–7 business days—but trust me, I’ll be calling if it doesn’t show up. I was basically told, “no money, no stay,” and that I’d have to call the third-party site myself to move my reservation to a different hotel. Mind you—it’s midnight at this point, and I’m exhausted. After about 45 minutes of going back and forth, she finally agreed to reduce the security deposit. But again—nowhere on their site does it state a $300 deposit at check-in. And just when I thought it was settled, she hit me with a mandatory valet fee to park on the property that was mentioned so I was like I’ll pay that but $300 was stupid. After spending $282 for the room itself, I ended up feeling like I got slapped with over $500+ in charges for just one night. Very misleading information on website, call before you book save yourself some time could’ve had a hotel for cheaper and over with free breakfast but went with this one because of location never again. I will never be staying at a Hyatt again

I opted to stay at this hotel for a wedding in LA, as it seemed to be in a convenient location and was moderately priced. I would NOT recommend staying here as I feel like the value of what I paid did not reflect in my stay. First of all, the room I originally got placed in (230, right by the elevators) had a giant gap between the door and the door hinge which allowed everyone to clearly see into the room. I tested it out with my boyfriend and while standing at the foot of the bed he was able to see that I was holding up 4 fingers from the outside. Luckily we were able to switch rooms immediately, but it was annoying that we had to take the time to do that since it was a busy wedding weekend. We also valeted our car (surprisingly more expensive than the Ritz in MDR - here, it was $58/night I believe) and literally heard our car screeching into the parking garage. I think the valet driver was tired or something since we arrived late, but we are pretty sure he didn't realize the emergency hand brake was on and therefore didn't release it before driving off. My cousin also opted to stay at this hotel and had to switch rooms TWICE due to sewage water that flooded his bathtub (see photo, day 1) and then his bathroom sink (day 2, as he was getting ready for the wedding). It is absolutely absurd to me that that would even occur in the first place, and it occurring twice in the span of a 3 night stay. My cousin is quite unconfrontational, so all the front desk offered him for his troubles were: 2 free room switches and extra Marriott Bonvoy points for a future stay. I would say the main/probably only thing this hotel has going for itself is its location nearby downtown Santa Monica. It is easily walkable if you don't have a car to get down there. Overall, please save your money or spend a little more elsewhere to have a comfortable stay on the westside.

We checked in after 4pm and our room was not ready. We were offered an apology and were told that because of the inconvenience they would wave the 4 night resort fee. A savings of over $120. We happily accept that offer. Once in the room we immediately noticed the WiFi was not working. When we called down to trouble shoot it we were told that the WiFi had been giving them trouble for over two months now. WHAT?? The issue was never resolved and consequently (as Canadians) we had to activate our data roaming costing us $30 a day. Great!! We then asked the concierge named Emerson, to help us with a rental car for the day. He found us a car for $75usd for one day
 expensive
but we agreed. We asked him to please ensure that we could drop the car off that same evening (so we would not have to incur parking charges). He said it wouldn’t be a problem. ..A few minutes later (after he booked it) he told us we would not be able to return the car that same night and we would have to pay for parking at the hotel for $50usd a night. We were shocked at this revelation and told him to cancel the car. Emerson was very rude and dismissive with us after that. We went down to speak to them in person and Jimmy (the other concierge) was very helpful and helped us find a different rental place that could be returned that same night. Jimmy was amazing through our entire stay!! When we finally checked out on our last day at 5am we were presented with a hefty bill that included the resort fee for all 4 nights (over $150usd). We were shocked, explaining that the front desk clerk had agreed to waive that fee due to our room not being ready for our check in. The morning front desk clerk said « he knew nothing about that! » and told me to email the front desk manager Viviana about it
I was not happy especially after explaining that their free WiFi had not worked for our entire stay costing us $120cdn out of pocket. No apologies were offered. I emailed Viviana the morning after our return home requesting she honor the offer to waive our resort fee charges
BUT she NEVER bothered to reply to my email. Other things to mention: One of their elevators was broken for the entire stay (making for some lengthy waits and very crowded elevators)
their hallway carpets were filthy. There were dirty dishes in the common areas (hallways) that stayed there for days untouched
our room was clean however, but the bathrooms were run down and not enough water pressure to rinse/wash my long hair. It was very rainy while we stayed there and when we requested an umbrella to go out to grab our take out order they had none to offer us. There was also a very noisy labour dispute/ protest that takes place outside the hotel front doors beginning at 7am. It was a large and loud disturbance that has apparently been going on for some time now. No one made us aware of it or apologized for this disturbance. All in all it was a terribly expensive stay, with very poor customer service with the exception of Jimmy who is this hotels only...

We flew in to LAX, but had to be in Santa Monica the following day. We had probably passed this hotel dozens of times without realizing it was there. We are so happy to have found it though because it is a hidden gem. From the time we arrived and met the parking attendants we were well taken care of. The hotel is across from SanMo High School and parking is generally tight in the area (from past experience). Check-in was seamless, and we were met by a friendly hospitality staff who gave us bottles of water we could help rehydrate with. We chose to eat in at the restaurant at the hotel. Prices were not out of line with local prices for the area. We all decided on cheeseburgers, which anyone can make decently, right? Each one was cooked as requested, and they were perfect! Whether well, or medium, some with toppings left off, or on, they were some of the best cheeseburgers any of our party of three had tasted. We are old enough to have had plenty of burgers over the years. Service was impeccable, glasses were never empty, and after a long day of travel, greatly appreciated. We were upgraded to ocean view rooms. You are roughly three city blocks from the Santa Monica pier. We were on the 4th floor and from the balcony rooms we had you could see a pretty expansive view of the shoreline. We have stayed in hotels closer to the beach which claimed an ocean view, and the only way it could be so was if you could crane your neck and look down the block to see what was a postage stamp compared to this view. You are looking over buildings, especially on the lower levels, but it was certainly a nice surprise and good view. There are two chairs and a small table on the balcony, so whether you want to take in the sunrise, or enjoy the sunset, you can do so. The room was spacious, clean, not new, but well kept. There were some photos of beach goers from decades to a century ago which was interesting to see. The bathroom had ample counterspace to spare. We only spent one night on a weeknight. Our friend goes to bed very early and the only thing he noted as a potential negative, for some, was the high school band practicing, which we did not hear, but we have a portable sound machine so we are not quite as sensitive. The following morning everything was done with as much professionalism as we had experienced the dsy before. It was also nice to meet one of the housekeeping staff who could not hear, or speak, but was doing her utmost to get the room ready for the next guest. We had tried to explain we were done in our room, and going down to check out. There was a senior staff member nearby who was there immediately to relay the message. It was truly a blessing to us to stay at...

From the moment we enter the Hotel we were impressed. The Lobby was clean and well appointed. It was our interaction with Frances Palma, her generous accommodations to our request's and her warm, personal, gracious, hospitality that started our wonderful stay. In our reservation note we had mention this was our first visit and we were celebrating my birthday. Frances greeted us with choices to all our requests. We had been upgraded from a queen size bed to a king. We were also given the choice of another room higher up, with a shower stall: but only two twin beds. We choose the initial room with another generous consideration on Frances's behalf. Due to covid19 restrictions we were told that housekeeping was not available for stays of less than four days. Understandable. And then Frances offered to book a visit from housekeeping halfway thru our three night stay. Wow. Accommodations after accommodations. And then we were offered two glasses of sparkling rose to welcome us. The bellman helped with our luggage to the room. The room was perfect. Spacious, well appointed, and immaculate. Perfect size closet, generous amount of hangers, and a luggage rack. Not seen as often these days. The bathroom, also immaculate, great selections of towels and a huge vanity. The shelf underneath was a fantastic touch. The King size been was very comfortable. Firm, and gentle at the same time. Comfortable sheets and oversized pillows. Ample drawers for clothes. The enclosed safe, and refrigerator, both nice touches. My favorite was the additional electrical plugs built into the extra large tables used on both sides of the bed. And in fact we did have a view of the ocean, and a small deck large enough for two chairs. Each employee we interacted with was gracious, friendly, and accommodating. From the gentleman maintaining the pool area, to the extremely friendly Latina valet who was directing traffic to the parking garage the last two days of our stay. We also had a concern with the air-conditioning, and a gentleman from engineering was at our door to fix the issue in less than five minutes. The pool was so enjoyable. We enjoyed our daily glass of complementary sparkling rose. We also had nightly contact with Frances. Recommendations for restaurants to dine at and places to shop. Our stay, directed by the consummate professional Frances Palma was memorable. We would in fact stay with you again in the future. And highly recommend The Le Meridien Delfina Hotel...
