Tao Foot Spa & Massage — Attraction in Sedona

I enjoyed my experience overall. I arrived as a walk in and they told me I can come back in an hour after a group. When I came back, I waited for 30 mins including a lot of confusing attempts of communication. So Some downsides are that none of the staff speaks English, so communicating what you want is very challenging. I wasn't sure what I wanted, the woman at the front desk who also did not speak English, pointed to the sign to offer me the spa menu and used her phone interpreter to show me what she was saying. Luckily it was only 3 options on the spa menu, but just adding the sugar rub treatment was difficult to explain. I had to point to the menu a few times. They told me I'd have to add time to my massage which is fine, but it felt confusingand I wasn't sure what to expect. The man who massaged me gave great pressure during the Swedish massage yet also when the sugar rub was on my back, it hurt slightly after going over the same spot on my back repetitively. It felt like a thorough 90 min massage but probably would have been better as 120 mins considering all the time it took to leave the room to get towels and clean the sugar off. I probably won't order the sugar rub next time. Overall I loved the massage itself, but the experience getting from the desk to the room was not relaxing. When I paid at the front desk, the man running my card stared as I typed in my tip, and pin number which felt very rude. He didn't speak a word of English and pointed to my total and tip amount. For all I know, he wasn't happy with my small tip of $11. Personally, I do not like when I'm treated as though a tip is expected. Maybe they are used to high paying tourists... I am a local and if I love a business, I refer all my clients there which is better than a fat tip. Anyways, I like the place, may go back when I want to try more emphasis on the foot massage treatment since that's what the place is known for... just wanted to leave my honest...

This was a very strange experience and I’m left feeling somewhat relaxed but overall disappointed. Upon walking in I was bombarded with a man (he was trying to be nice and accommodating) talking to me and asking questions that wasn’t in English. I was telling them I’m was interested in reflexology and they looked up me like they didn’t understand me. I was talking to a man and a woman at the front and neither of them could understand anything I was saying or asking. It was very uncomfortable. They were very kind but I felt forced to pick something with my finger so I pointed outside to the promotion sign “foot massage for $40” and they took me into the back and we started immediately. There was no wait which was nice. The foot massage was okay but I was in pain 80% of the time. The man doing my message was rolling over my tendons with his fingers and it was extremely uncomfortable and very painful. I felt like I couldn’t speak up for myself that I was in pain because no one was able to understand me and I felt bad. It really hurt me but the guy massaging me was talented and I could tell. Maybe I’m really sensitive? I’m not sure. But my feet are still in pain. I just really wanted reflexology and I didn’t get what I came in for. It was strange but they were very nice people. I’m not sure I would come back unfortunately. I was also pretty uncomfortable because all of the workers were hacking and coughing and seemed sick. I could hear the coughing all over the building. I really hope they weren’t sick and that I don’t get sick and spread it to my wife. I really wanted a better experience. I’m disappointed but I can’t say that I didn’t enjoy some of it. They were all kind to me and parts of the massage was enjoyable so I would rate this...

In addition to their exceptional service, I must express my heartfelt gratitude for their honesty and generosity. After returning home to Hawaii, I realized that I had forgotten my wallet at their establishment. When I called to inquire about it three days later, the staff informed me that they had my wallet and were holding it for my return. Upon learning that I was back in Hawaii, they generously offered to mail it back to me at no cost. This level of customer care and integrity is truly rare, and I am incredibly appreciative of their efforts. Tao Foot Massage has undoubtedly earned my highest recommendation, and I look forward to visiting them again...
