Zandbroz Variety — Attraction in Sioux Falls Township

I have always loved this store and try to make a point to shop there at least once a year because they always have really cute posters, stickers and other items. I am very disappointed in how I was treated today. I stepped into the store not realizing that they were just about to close as I saw other customers in there. An employee came up to me as I was looking at stickers and very rudely told me to hurry up and pick something out, pay and leave after she had come close to me and stared at me for several minutes. She told me they were closed, I needed to hurry and leave. As a service worker, I totally understand wanting to leave when you are close but I honestly had no idea they had closed. I started to put away the stuff I was looking at and apologized to which she repeated the same thing again, we are closed, hurry, pay, leave. It was totally unnecessary to treat me this way as I immediately tried to leave when told they were closing. Her overall demeanor and treatment towards me was condescending and aggressive, especially because I tried to leave immediately. That being said, their products are great and I have never had a problem with this before. Hopefully this experience was just a bad...

So...I've lived in Sioux Falls for years and live close to the beautiful downtown of Phillips Ave. that being said, I love to pop into Zambroz and check out their unique items. Sometimes I make purchases, sometimes I window shop. Today I came in with a specific item in mind, homemade paper and knew their selection was going to be perfect.

When I came into the store, I was not greeted. There were no other patrons and two staff.

I perused for about 10 minutes locating the exact paper that would be perfect for my project....and nature calls!

I politely asked the women behind the counter if I could use their restroom. She sighed, looked at me with annoyance and grabbed a set of keys. States directions to their restroom and added extremely rudely with tone that "it's NOT a public restroom and to lock it after my use."

Feeling rather like a pest and unwelcome do, I checked out with my purchases. She did not thank me, she did not state a word other than, "sign here" and I was gone.

I probably won't be stopping in much, as the staff could not be bothered at all with any customers. Rude. Impolite. And rather annoyed at their job...which seemed burdensome.

Too bad. Because their store is...

A friend and I was in the store on a 1st Friday when many of the stores are open a little later. Staff looked like they had a bad day and when I asked the girl to throw a way some trash for me she looked at me like i had a used kleenex in my hand. (It wasn't, just paper!). She did take it but didn't say a word to me the whole time. Found a lot of neat stuff there and was thinking about buying some cool candles but they started shutting off the lights an indication they were closing. No verbal warning that we had 5 min or so, just lights out. Tried to leave but both doors were locked. I assume so no one else would come in....but how were we to get out?! No employee unlocked the door for us so we did it ourselves. Not a great experience. Kinda wonder how much business they lost in that short time as there were probably 10 customers in the store when they shut...
