La Tenoch Market — Attraction in South Salt Lake

Edit I've since been going there a great deal and that original problematic butcher is gone and since then, I always have great help at the meat counter from then on. The owner is fantastic...He always makes sure you get whatever you need. I definitely recommend this store. I actually go here instead of Rancho market, which is up the street. I also prefer this market because its smaller...I can get in and out AND i don't expose myself to tons of people at this point of time (covid19) All in all, a fabulous market. Their meat quality is very good and their prices are comparable or better than all the stores around them. I think many of their meat products are way better than other stores & markets. And their Sonoran style tortillas are excellent. They had them first in my area....then Rancho got them.. Excellent store. I will definitely continue...

Will not eat here again! No regard for safety. Explained in my order no cilantro due to serious food allergy. Picked up my order and it contained cilantro. Told the lady at the counter I couldn’t have cilantro, and she argued with me and said all the condiments were already put together. I showed how the cilantro was mixed into the onions and once limes and once again explained my mother cannot eat cilantro due to severe food allergy and she argued again saying she couldn’t do anything. I told her the gentleman who helps me adds extra onion and no cilantro so she finally walked over and gave a tiny to go container for the onions, proving she just didn’t want to walk. I went to have the taco special and was extremely disappointed that only the meat tacos were on sale. I ordered a veggie taco and basically they opened a jar of pickled onions and red peppers, mixed in some corn, warmed them up and stuck them on a corn tortilla. No beans, very miniscule cheese was added, and the only fresh veggie was 2 slices of radish, and a tiny slice of lime It was a terrible soggy mess!! On top of that they charged me $3 for one taco.
