When I walked in I was greeted by being asked who did i book my appointment with. Afterwards I was told to go talk to a female hairstylist whose name I never got and she asked me what i was getting done and I told her the hairstyle I wanted. After that she asked me to take off my hat so she could see my hair while another customer was sitting in the chair. Then the music was so loud that every time she said something you could barely hear her because the music was extremely loud even one of the stylists said it was too loud. I didn't like how when I was telling her what wanted done to my hair she asked me twice did I want some locs and I told her I came to get a twist out. After they shampooed my hair she started to twist my hair but i had told her i wanted my ends clipped and she said they looked fine to her but they needed clipped too me. I was the last client in the shop and after they gave me my twist out the lady tried to ask me did I want to leave without drying my hair fully because she said it was damp I told her no because it was very cold outside and I didn't want to leave with wet hair. So I got under the dryer for about 10 minutes because it took about 15 to 25 minutes to twist my hair. After I was done from under the dryer she told me it's better to leave my hair twisted for a few days before I took it down because the twist out will come out better. I felt like for $75 that was a lot of money and I did not feel pampered I feel like I didn't get the service I came to get I felt like I was trying to be talked out of the hairstyle that I came for. Then the kicker of the whole thing was at the end after my hair was done the lady left my hair twisted and she sprayed it with oil sheen. After that she told me it was time to pay I pulled out my debit card she looked at me and said they don't take debit or credit cards they only take cash or cash app I don't usually carry much cash and I do not have cash app so luckily I had a friend with me and they had 100$ but Napps didn't even have change so we had to find someone with change to pay the lady. The moral of the story is I will never give them my business again I was very disappointed when I left their hair salon. Though I'm only one person with one complaint at the end of the day when you start to get more and more complaints it will hurt your pockets sooner than later. Treat people the same way you want to be...
Read moreI brought my daughter in about a month ago to get locs installed. I told the stylist my daughter has always had a very a sensitive scalp, and that it gets extremely dry (right after I oil it) and she has a dandruff build up. I told her that her hair growth was stunted, and maybe the locs would help it. The stylist told me to use a spray bottle with water and oil in it, and that would help. After a few days, I noticed my daughter scratching her head constantly to where I could see it flaking back up (This was w the stylist recommendation to spray her hair w natural oils and water). Next I noticed clean spots above her ears, some of the locs began to break her hair off, it was literally hanging on by strands. I had to make the easy decision, TO REMOVE THE EXPENSIVE LOCS! My daughter complained that the locs hurt, and the scalp area where it hurt was red, and hurt to touch it. It took me 6 hours to remove those locs. Next, I called a stylist that specializes in natural hair care. She told me that my daughter’s scalp needed to be lifted, because my daughter had years of dead skin layers, which clogged her pores and as a result stunted her hair growth. My daughter also has eczema, the new stylist to me to make an appt. with a dermatologist, bc she may have eczema in her scalp. My appt. with the new stylist was at 2:30 pm, we did not leave until 7pm. She took the time to lift her scalp (section by section), she did a scalp treatment. The new stylist was disgusting and was in utter disbelief the Napps, stylist did not take the time to lift the scalp as well as do a scalp treatment on her hair. She also pointed out that my daughter’s hair flaking was so severe that It couldn’t have been looked over or ignored. She expressed the stylist did not want to take the time to provide proper healthy, hair care services to my daughter but she put in a style that damaged her hair. I’m one that doesn’t mind paying extra for something to be done the right way. I brought her to Napps, only because of their longevity in St. Louis and what I assumed to be knowledge of black hair care. I feel taken advantage of, especially paying for such an expensive hair style, not being able to get my money back and having to...

Yesterday, 01/25/2020, I had an appointment set for 11am for starter locs (comb cool method). I arrived around 10:45am and waited outside the doors until about 11:39am because nobody was there. I didn’t think much of it because I had high hopes and I was very optimistic. The female who opened the shop washed my hair and told me to sit down. She was very polite and checked on me while I waited.. and I waited 2 HOURS for the stylist who was doing my locs (mind you she wasn’t far from the salon AT ALL). The music was great music but it was INCREDIBLY loud. I couldn’t hear anything. When she arrived she basically told me that my hair was too long for comb coils (I know this isn’t true, it’s just time consuming, but what made me mad is that if my appointment had started on time majority of the comb coils would have been done). So I told them that I changed my mind and when I left (hair everywhere and looking a hot mess) I couldn’t help but to burst into tears.. I was crushed and I don’t want anybody else to feel how defeated I felt yesterday so PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
On a brighter note, I DID get my starter locs installed BY A DIFFERENT LOCTICIAN last night and they look exactly how I dreamed!! They are diamond parted comb coils!! So if someone tells you it can’t be done, save yourself the time and heartbreak and find someone who can! Do not settle and for the love of everything right in this world, DO...
