Beach-goers - Be very aware of towing services being very proactive all hours of the day and evenings, in the parking lots (directly across from the beach). It appears as though people that park and go across to the beaches are systematically targeted. One can sit in a restaurant like Einstein's Bagels and observe the tow trucks pop out from behind the buildings. A closer look, reveal that they line up behind the buildings seemingly waiting on that call that says "someone just parked and walked across to the beach." They engage the violator's vehicle and tow away, literally, within minutes after victim exit the parking lot to walk across the street to the beach. So much so, that quite often, one can witness tow truck driver and violator in a confrontation. Overall, this seems like a decent shopping center, that should ultimately find a better way to deal with the parking situation. Over the years, I'm of the opinion that it's mostly the tourist to the area that fall victim to the "hitch and split, " style towing. Such a shame, but it's almost like watching reality television on Saturday and Sundays. And as I mentioned, the location is decent in terms of good variety of stores and restaurants, but it's sad in the way in which they deal with the parking situation. I blame the RK Town Centre management and the City of Sunny Isles for letting the tow services be such hawks to the tourist. I'm not implying that what these authorities are allowing is illegal, I'm just saying that when closely observed, there seems to be a bit of unfairness to the patrons...
Read moreWhat an organized crime on the part of the towing service, the shopping center and the local spies who are there monitoring if anyone wants to leave the parking lot like in our case. Here I mean the parking lot on the other side, right in front of the shopping center. I believe that the same applies to this parking lot, that it is all the same. We stopped with the intention of having breakfast in a nearby bar. As it was crowded, we decided to take a short walk to the beach and then have breakfast. After 6 minutes, we received a notification that the car was in motion. The towing service took over the car literally immediately. What a fraud and abuse of the law. I would understand if we left the car for 15 minutes or half an hour, but this is just pathetic. We even saw the police on parking. I would not say that they are not familiar with this fraud and that this robbery of the people in general does not excite them. The average of towing vehicles is a minimum of 5 vehicles per hour. Breakfast cost us $250 ($210 car pickup + $9 Uber + $30 food). Very cheap! It is simply unbelievable to me that city officials tolerate this. I'm just now seeing how many comments there are regarding this scam. I'm sorry I didn't read the comments earlier. I wish this mall RK Centers and the towing service Dolphing towing (14710 W Dixie Hwy) bankrupt as soon as possible and I wish the local spies to have no money for medicine when they...
Read moreTerrible and unfair experience at Marshall's - 16800 Collins Ave, Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160
Our car was towed while we were still on the premises of the Marshall's located at 16800 Collins Ave. The vehicle was parked properly, and we were inside the store shopping. We even have the receipt to prove our purchase. Just 10-15 minutes after we walked away from the register, we saw our car being towed -- right in front of us.
All of our belongings were left inside the vehicle -- IDs, money, documents, everything. When we tried to contact the towing company, none of the phone numbers worked. Every line was busy or went unanswered, no matter how many times we called.
When we came to the towing company (Dolphin Towing & Recovery) we spoke to a person at the office on-site, who said he would not deal with the situation. He refused to show us any camera footage and made it clear that unless we were ready to pay, we had to leave. No proof was ever provided that we had left the property -- because we hadn't.
This situation was not only frustrating, it was completely unjust. We were treated with zero respect or consideration. Be very careful if you park here -- even if you are a paying customer, your car might still get towed...
