Target — Attraction in Surprise

Dear Target, My husband and myself visited your location this evening 1/2/2015 at 8pm. We selected a video game that your employee had to retrieve from behind the plexiglass. We pointed out the one we wanted and she said she would go get a magnet and meet us at the counter. We paid the item, a Pokémon game for Nintendo Ds. (A gift for our nephew) After leaving and entering our vehicle my husband began to remove the wrapper halfway then upon inspecting the game realized your clerk had selected the wrong one when she came back with her keys and magnet. Seeing how it had been no more than 2 minutes since we walked out of your store, we were sure your employee would admit to her mistake and correct the issue. Boy, were we wrong. The young woman at the return counter told my husband when he went in that it was "not her problem" he had partially opened the game and all she could do was give him another copy of the same game if she opened it. My husband told me this so I went I because surely this was a mistake. I walked in and there were two women behind your return counter. One large woman packing boxes and the young lady this letter will continue to reference. I asked who had helped my husband and the young woman stepped up. I asked her to explain her policy after telling her the story of your employee's mistake. She once again stated it was "not her problem" that it was open and explained what could be done. I said ok retrieve another copy and open in for me. She got on her head set and radioed for someone in electronics to retrieve a duplicate of the game. After several minutes she informed me that there were "none left" I then asked what she could do for me. She said again it was "not her problem and there was nothing I could do so.. h well" She had a horrific attitude and was being quite snarky. I then asked to speak to her manager to which she snapped "I am the manager" I then asked her to write down her name and her superior's name. (I have bad eyesight) She replied I could "read her badge" and she would not vocalize her name to me. I then asked to speak to her superior, she replied "I told him there were no managers here" A security guard behind the counter walked up and told her to "let it go" clearly trying to calm her aggressive behavior towards me. She radioed for a manager and while waiting she said "you came in here with a bad attitude miss" I addressed her comment by informing her I do not work for target and she does so whether my attitude was bad or not hers shouldn't be so threatening. Then a woman walked up and told me her name was Marekett she was a manager and asked how she could help. I told her I just wanted her name for reference when contacting cooperate and that her employee there had an awful attitude as I was exiting your store. This security guard and the large woman should be able to recount all of these events assuming they are honest people. I have never met such a rude and nasty woman as this "manager"( she claimed) to be working your return counter this evening. I can honestly say she was one of the rudest managers I have ever encountered in my life. So I arrive home this evening with the wrong game, a loss of respect for Target and a mindset to ensure this story is shared in as many places as I can post it to warn others of how unprofessional and standoffish your employees can be. I find it interesting that the Surprise Arizona Target location doesn’t seem interested in selling their stock. Correct me if I’m wrong, when you order product to stock your shelves, the entire purpose is for someone to come in and purchase it. Correct? However, upon checking out tonight with roughly $400 worth of candy, movies, clothes, Halloween toys for the little ones too small for candy, and other miscellaneous items. We were pleasantly greeted with an eye roll, huffing and refusal to sell. Because, “it’s meant to bring people in”. If I’m not mistaken, it’s also, “meant to be purchased.” Setting aside the refusal to sell product, regardless of the fact that I have literally never had a single issue purchasing the last of something before, because again, it’s ordered, to be sold. The blatant disrespect and rudeness that was shown by an employee, who clearly couldn’t be bothered to be made to do his job, is unacceptable. Speaking from a customer service manager, there is absolutely zero reason or excuse, for a customer service employee, to ever, disrespect a client so blatantly. Especially in an economy as such, and when that client is clearly there so you can continue getting a paycheck. It’s absurd that the excuse “I can’t sell you these because I need them on my shelf to bring people in.” Was used. Clearly, it brought people in, people who wanted to buy in stock to set up for the Halloween extravaganza my mother sets up every year, looks forward to every year, and goes out of her way to purchase as much candy as possible to make sure she never runs out for anyone walking around on Halloween, and we’re turned away by someone too busy being the literal definition of a millennial, and a disgrace to every single other hard working, dedicated, polite 20-30 year old giving all they can in their job to make the customer happy. Horrible customer service, if I had a choice of taking some stars and or giving negative stars.. This target location will earn it!! They were having a huge sale when their items were ringing up incorrectly. After approaching the customer service desk we were treated as liars and thieves. Spoke to a lady and when I told her we purchased these items and didn't get the price and gift card as advertised, she then rung the items again, And said it's not on sale. Stood there and kept looking at us, then I asked her is there anyway u can look up last week's sale and or the ad which ended yesterday and her response was no. I tooked Up the ad on my phone and was able to locate it but her response was we can't go off a picture.

Trying to stay calm and not make a big deal I asked for a manager, the front manager Keena approached the counter I told her about our experience with the employee and Her response was " she is right, no way for us to go back and check on previous deals " I asked, Even if it ended yesterday? She said yes we have many deals and can't go back. As we walked away from the customer service desk she made a sarcastic comment " you ladies have a great evening"

I then took my previously purchased items and walked in the store only to find out the sale is still going on and the same sign I had on my phone was still there.. I requested to speak with a store manager this time and got A manager from HR name sarah. She was new and didn't know how to complete the transaction without Keenas help but I will say she made every effort to help.

Bottom line.. Take Ur money and go to the other targets in the area vs this one. They treat you like thievies and or liars.. Especially the girls at the customer service.. I believe the desk signage should read HELL service vs customer service!! Worse customer...
