Unfortunately, the church’s recording needs to be updated in order to not misinform the public about visiting hours, which the recording states is M-F until 3 p.m. My husband and I are staying in the downtown historic area and walked to the church today and it was well before 2 p.m. The doors were locked and I called the church office and a lady answered and said that the church had already closed for the day and acknowledged the recording and said it had to get updated. That’s a true shame because the church has been a highlight of one of our stops since we’ve heard so much about it. We drove from Miami and spent a few days at Tarpon Springs for our anniversary. I asked the lady if it’s open tomorrow and she said only for evening service but that’s not what the recording says. Truly disappointed to encounter this on our...

Organizing the trip of our holidays to Miami and the Keys, we informed that at the "nearby" Tarpon Springs is celebrating the Epiphany day. In this beautiful city has flourished over 100 years a Greek community, mainly from Kalymnos. For us the Greek Orthodox, this feast is very important. So without a second thought we included in our program a visit to Tarpon Springs this day. It was our best decision. We attended the ceremony with thousands of Greek-Americans who had come from many cities of America. Together there were many priests from nearby cities as well as the Archibishop Demetrios and the Bishop of Atlanta Alexios. The Epiphany was celebrated in the Greek Cathedral of Saint Nicholas. A magnificent church over 110 years old, built by the...

This place is incredible. I took this picture around 7:45p and it's just poetic. I'm taking a class to learn the Greek language at the church and they're so awesome, accommodating, thoughtful and open to educating anyone. If learning the Greek language or anything about the Greek Orthodox interests you in the slightest, I am sure that there's a class, program, contact or other reference they can offer to help learn about the religion, customs, etc. It's worth it, I promise.

The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral is breathtaking! I am not Greek, nor religious, but I can appreciate history and beauty when I see it. The exterior of the cathedral is beautiful and well kept, but the interior is amazingly maintained. St. Nicholas cathedral has to be one of the most beautiful and clean places of worship that I have ever been in! This coming from someone whose high school graduation was at the infamous St. Patrick's cathedral in New York City.
