I guess the lack of good and great cafe experiences in the Woodlands has led to such high mark reviews, but I've gone to this cafe several times over the last few months and honestly it's ok. Not great, not bad, it's a high turnover model serving rote "French" fare at relatively reasonable prices. I tried the crepes once, Croque Madam and it was quite disappointing, didn't bother after the third bite/try. The coffee was good at least. For my money, I would stick with the French breakfast which is basically three eggs and brioche toast, but much better options for breakfast in TW than this place. One thing I find truly annoying, but I guess just a sign of the times, is the almost obligatory tip at the register for what is essentially bus service being tipped or expected to be at regular waiter, full service eateries. They should pay their people properly, and let the tips reflect exceptional service in the line. But I know I'm one of the lone voices out there on this topic and that's fine. Don't expect to go again anytime soon if at all. Would be nice to have a true Parisian style eatery that can handle the Croque Madam and Monsieur's with real gruyere cheese and all the other wonderful things that could be done with a place like this. But if you like formulaic, over sweet, unimaginative high calorie...
Read moreAtmosphere was lovely despite being incredibly busy. Food presentation was nice. All outside seating was taken and there was virtually no seating inside. There were 3 parties so I’m not sure if that played a part of if it’s always that busy. We were served relatively promptly, our food was not cold but it wasn’t hot. My son got a waffle and it was over cooked making it more crunchy rather than sof. I ordered the dulce de leche crepe which was alright. I prefer crepes over pancakes but I have had better crepes at less known places. For just my son and I it cost $30 which included the meals stated above, a mimosa and a kid’s chocolate milk. Which was regular milk with chocolate syrup that they didn’t even mix up. Also nothing on the menu stated it came it mint leafs and I am allergic to mint, it cause me to go into anaphylaxis, and I can’t breathe. Lucky it was just a topping and my son was able to pick it off for me and throw it away. Overall for the service was relatively prompt but our food was overpriced especially given the fact it was room temperature at best like the crepe had been sitting out maybe premade and my sons waffle the same or overcooked as it was hard and crunchy needing to be...
Read moreI must have tried it on a bad day. 2:30 pm. And there were only 5 tables in use and every table inside and outside was dirty. I stood in the middle of the dining room waiting for someone to come clean tables. When someone came out to clean tables, I asked her if she could clean off a specific table for me and she said yes. Instead, she removed dishes from about 10 tables without wiping any of them while I stood in the middle of the dining room. When I was finally exhausted and embarrassed from standing there, I sat down at the table I wanted and waited for her to wipe every table in the restaurant....except mine which she never wiped. I had to go ask, what I'm assuming was the manager, if he could get it cleaned for me. She came out and wiped it just as my food was coming. Unfortunately, after all that, my Crepe was barely warm and my Machiato was cool. Both tasted good but would have been much better had they been at the right temperature.
I'm giving it 2 Stars because I liked the atmosphere and the product did taste good even though it was not hot.
I had such high hopes because my office is in Market Street. I think this was all poor management and lack...
