NOT CHILD/KID FRIENDLY!! We went a few weeks back, and brought out 1yr old son. We waited a short normal amount of time, and once sat, we were told they only have booster seats, no high chairs. Thats fine. But also, we can only sit on one side of the booth for social distancing....my husband, booster seat son, and me on one side of the booth??? The tables next to us were ALL FULL and able to touch their feet together, yet we couldn’t space out in a booth that was taller than my head?? No tables “closed for distancing” either. Just one booth side per each booth.
So as we were struggling to breathe and eat, my son is babbling lightly and eating his snacks, every one of the staff is giving us upset and dirty looks. No one wanting to really come by and touch our table. Also, went to change my son, they have no diaper changing stations as well. So either you use the floor, or your vehicle!
Food: it was decent, not terrible. The best thing was the spicy garlic edamame, other than that Top Sushi or Kobes Hibachi has better sushi for us in this area.
The best we ever had isn’t even in Texas, but this place acts too rich for our blood and treats families with no respect nor accommodates for their needs.
EDIT: Response to owner- Thanks for only addressing the social distancing issue. The only social distancing your business had was you couldn’t sit on one side of the booth. All tables were full, not more than 3ft from each-other and customers were almost touching toes with other tables. But I digress. The issue at hand was your business was and is not child/family friendly. You have no changing tables nor child friendly options, nor high chairs. Just booster seats. That was the main issue for our stay, not the fact of you NOT correctly following social distancing guidelines. Thank you, will not come back until your more...
Read moreUpon arrival, we were seated very quickly. We were given one meal menu, and two drink menus. A rather unpleasant mistake but one that can happen to anyone due to overlooking and rushing.
We were seated and given the opportunity to look over the menus, which I might add, were rather beat up and abused. They are currently made out of a thin paper that folds quite easily, and by the state of the menu we were given, definitely has been folded and mistreated in the past. Definitely would benefit the restaurant to update these menus to a higher quality material.
After being seated it took approximately 10 minutes for anyone to come ask what we would be drinking. In facts, a different server had to come ask us if anyone had been by our table yet, which we replied “no”. This gentleman was very polite in our exchange, and took our drink orders. After another 5 minutes or so we were brought our drinks by our waitress. Unfortunately, she did not introduce herself to us or I would include her name.
Our waitress was rather unpleasant. She did not refill our drinks very quickly, which you’d expect from a restaurant of this stature. She seemed to be having a bad day and the attitude from it was reflected in her work. I get that bad days can happen to everyone, but don’t let it negatively impact your guests experience.
We ordered the Pork Belly Steamed Buns, a Rainbow Roll, and the “H Bomb” roll.
The Pork Belly Steamed Buns were about a 4.5/10 for my taste. They seemed to lack any flavor other than the sliced chilis that were on them.
The rolls however were very delicious. I would rate both of them a solid 8.5/10. I definitely recommend these rolls!
All in all, I would have to rate “Uni Sushi” 3/5 due to the service we received. The food however, is...
Read moreWe visited Uni with high, but reasonable expectations. I am, by no means, an authority on sushi, but will gladly share my experience. Uni was busy on this Saturday evening at 6:30; we were added to the waitlist and seated within 30 minutes. The service could be characterized as friendly, professional, and mostly attentive. The restaurant was smaller, dimly lit for ambience, and striving for a contemporary-chic aesthetic. Seating options included two bartops (alcohol/sushi), booths, and tables. The restaurant was quite loud for the size of the space and proposed aesthetic. The bathrooms were not well-maintained, detracting from the experience I feel Uni was trying to curate. The sushi was quite tasty, seemed fresh, and had a fair number of options, though variety and creativity did not appear to be strengths. Aside from the bathrooms, what annoyed me most about my visit was being charged $4.50 for a 10 oz glass of Dr. Pepper that was refilled once (after I was finished eating). Sodas were not listed on any menu, and the beverage menu listing the alcohol did not have prices. Perhaps this is common at extremely high-end restaurants. However, this experience was not extremely high-end, and setting appropriate expectations is crucial to ensuring a positive guest experience. Put prices on your menu. Additionally, use appropriate markups for your product. $4.50 for a fountain drink at a restaurant is absurd - especially considering we’re not in LA or Chicago. This singular absurdity, “cleverly” hidden until we received our bill is honestly reason enough for me to not...
