Read moreEver felt that longing for a new kind of adventure? That tingling in your toes that screams set me free? Those hopeless aspirations that eat at your subconscious like the swarm of pestilent bugs eat at your sweaty face every time you go outside? Perhaps not. But I can tell you that whatever itch you have, Mystery Room has hands with fingers with pretty sharp nails that are just what you’ve been looking for all your life. William Wowza (Joshuah Patriarco) takes a labyrinthine approach to the game show, exposing the nature of the player’s mind. How much do you know about Shakespeare? How much do you know about Vladimir Zelensky? If the answer is not much—let’s say your name is Jaquarias. If your name is Jaquarias, and the answer is not much, Wowza will know it. And then the truth of your ignorance will be known by everyone on the planet. But don’t be too intimidated. For Mystery Room is a delightful place filled with many weird encounters and shocking surprises. If you are a competitive person, here is your chance to put those athletic or intellectual powers to the test. Now you may be asking “what does that mean?” And I would be asking “why don’t you figure it out?” But maybe what we both should be telling each other is some things transcend the written word. There is beauty in the mystery. There is depth to the room.

Room for Improvement: The room itself was quite simple, and the puzzles lacked creativity. We were hoping for more unique and challenging tasks, but they felt repetitive and uninspired. The hint system also needs some work. Instead of subtle clues on a screen in the room, a staff member physically enters the room to give verbal hints, which breaks the immersion. Additionally, the first time we requested a hint, no one showed up, and we had to press the button again.
The room’s proximity to other rooms was also an issue. The walls were thin, and since the top wasn’t covered, we could hear a lot of noise from the other games happening nearby, which was distracting. There was no AC, just a fan blowing air, which can be a bit uncomfortable for some people.
Overall, while we appreciated the staff’s effort, the room and experience need some significant improvements to be more engaging and immersive. Unfortunately, I’m not sure I would return unless some of these areas were addressed, especially in terms of puzzle creativity and the overall...
