I want to preface this review by stating that I went on a Sunday in October. Tarrytown is often busy but this afternoon it was an absolute mess. There was a ton of traffic and the music hall does not provide parking. So prepare to get to the venue way ahead of time. The person driving had a handicap pass and it was still impossible to find a spot. We eventually did find one on a side street. It was the last space too (handicap or otherwise). Don't know if we would have made the show had we not found it. In total I saw 3 handicap spaces by the theater (and when I say by I don't mean in front of) so keep this in mind.
There are plenty of places to eat nearby but we chose to go to Nyack and not deal with the throngs of people in every location. Some places had lines out the door.
The theater itself is old. They opened the door and then had to close it again because, and I quote, "we let 250 people in and we need them to settle in." This can be fixed by having folks in the theater directing people where to go. We had to find our own seats, which is fine, but if they had personnel they can help keep the slow going. BTW, they had plenty of personnel when the show started to tell folks to put their phones away when people tried to take pictures.
The theater made the announcement that photos were not allowed but then when the show started one of the performers told the audience that if they take photos and put them on social media to make sure they tagged the event. So I don't blame folks for being confused. Perhaps those employees making people stop taking pictures can be used to control the traffic.
We were in row G in the orchestra and all the way to the right. I was worried they would be terrible seats but as others have mentioned, there isn't a bad seat in the house. Great view. Did not feel like a "side" seat.
The seats themselves could use an overhaul. I work in a public school and our auditorium has better seats.
The show itself was fine. Went to see the Vampire Circus.
Would I return? You couldn't pay me to go to Tarrytown in October. However, I would scope the town out on a different month before buying tickets just to see what parking is like. Otherwise, I'd skip it. If you are taking the train then it might be worth it as it isn't far from the train station, however it is all uphill to the theater from the train.
My stars are all for the view...
Read moreI recently had an absolute blast at Tarrytown Music Hall for their showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, it was an unforgettable night! From the moment the iconic theme music started playing, the energy in the theater was electric.
The venue itself is a charming blend of classic and modern, with its vintage decor creating the perfect atmosphere for this cult classic. It felt like stepping into a time machine. The crowd was enthusiastic, with everyone dressed up in their best costumes—there were plenty of sequins, fishnets, and, of course, lots of fabulous makeup. The audience participation is what makes Rocky Horror so special, and this crowd did not disappoint.
The live shadow cast was fantastic! They brought the characters to life in a way that added an extra layer of hilarity and excitement to the film. Their energy was contagious, and I found myself laughing and dancing along with everyone.
And let’s not forget the iconic scene with the props! It was so much fun to join in with the audience for the toast, the rice throwing, and all the other classic moments that make this show such a blast. If you’ve never experienced it before.
Overall, Tarrytown Music Hall is the perfect venue for a night of Rocky Horror madness. The combination of the beautiful theater, the enthusiastic crowd, and the lively performance made for a night...

In December of 2023, I brought and treated my wife and myself to attend the “Nutcracker Performed By The New York Theater Ballet” at the Tarrytown Music Hall and we very much enjoyed the show. Our favorite parts of the show were the “Russian Dance” the “Waltz of the Snowflakes” & “The Nutcracker Mouse King Battle.”
Everyone performed brilliantly, and the theater’s acoustics certainly helped elevate the performance. The theater provides comfortable seats for its guests and great views of the stage and the performers
