I would not return even if the food was for FREE!!!This was a birthday dinner and I chose this restaurant based on the reviews….this was my mistake. I can't attest to the food as after being at their establishment for over hour I never tasted anything except bread which we had to ask for. One waiter took our drink order and another waiter took our dinner order. After over 40 minutes and no appetizers we inquired as to when they would arrive. We received no answer---literally we asked and the manager walked away. 5 minutes later the waiter who took our order appeared and asked us again what we ordered--KNEW THIS WAS A BAD SIGN!!! Now we are 45 minutes into our visit. Appetizers come out (actually tuna tartar which was what I had ordered) however it was delivered to the table right next to us who had been there for maybe 20 minutes. At that point I called the manager over again----AND THIS IS WHY I WILL NEVER RETURN---his complete lack of caring, concern or anything with regards to the situation. He told us our waiter was feeling well and that was the problem. Couldn't tell us when our food would arrive and just mumbled. Offered NOTHING IN THE WAY OF AN APOLOGY. It was at that point that I said he could pay for our two drinks and we would eat elsewhere… Customer service is what keeps a business going and this establishment needs a true lesson in it. In all my years I have NEVER been so disrespected in...
Read moreWhile visiting the quaint town of Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow, NY for the day, we Googled local restaurants as we began to think of dinner. We saw "American Restaurant" in the heading of their listing and thought, Comfort foods like hamburgers, fries, etc. NO!! It's our mistake for not reading the menu or the reviews. This is NOT a restaurant for families with children. It is a Portugese American Restaurant $$$ with traditional foods prepared exquisitely! I gave it 3 ☆ due to extremely SLOW service. Three men sat at the bar talking who looked like owners. We, as women, seemed to be ignored. The menu is extremely limited and pricey. I had the Portuguese Octopus appetizer, served with a few small fingerling potatoes ($18). It was good and could serve as a meal if you had a small appetite. I also ordered the Scallop entrée which came with 5 jumbo scallops served atop a creamed corn, couscous and root vegetable mixture ($34). Scallops were cooked to perfection!! My friend ordered the half chicken with Brussels sprouts ($28) which she said was good. The entire bill without drinks was $86.00 which is quite the norm for a High End restaurant near NYC, unfortunately a bit overpriced for my friend, who is on a burger budget, but I give her credit for trying something new. The restaurant itself is quaint, small, and on a Tuesday evening we were the only diners. Paid parking on street or in lot...
Read moreI was visiting the area on business and was searching for a place to have a small meeting with some colleagues about business and with these reviews and pictures I thought it would be perfect! When I arrived, everything seemed to go smoothly. Colleagues arrived and we ordered - which is where everything started going south. Drinks took forever to arrive and the food ? Not even what we were expecting and even more time waiting on food than we did for our drinks. Had to ask our waiter and even spoke to a manager named Ana and her face was very plastered and unauthentic in the matter. Not only was this disorganized but in 2024 customers value diversity and there was one minority black server who we’ve seen Ana make racial passes at. There was a small commotion but it was noticeable. The black waiter left and Ana could be heard coaching the other staff members. It was really wasn’t our business but it could be heard by the patrons and that is so unprofessional and one could say the Waiter that left was being bullied. For the prices on their menu I would expect the staff to be treated better and for the service to be impeccable. Both which are not what we expected Wildly uncomfortable and will never recommend anyone to come here. Please do better. And hire more...
