3* purely on attitude and service from I guess the owner of the establishment.
Let's start from the beginning we were looking for a place to eat in Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown after we visited the Rockefeller estate. This wasn't our primary spot but after we arrived at Bridgeview and were told that the wait is an hour and a half for a table we decided to look for alternatives so we called around and this place was able to accommodate 7 people, which we thought to be great. I was asked if we had any children with us and I told them that we had 3 14, 11, and 2 and I was told this was fine.
As it turned out having a toddler is not fine especially a cranky one because 1 they don't have high chairs and 2 they don't allow children of that age for ... I am not sure exactly what the reason is but as soon as we sat down and my 2 year old daughter who was pretty tired and hungry started crying I was basically was asked to leave because the child was bothering other customers. When I looked around the room noone seemed to be bothered in the slightest and all the conversations and meals continued as they were before. Further I was told that they don't allow children in the establishment (I am guessing they don't allow children under 5-7?) because there was a couple with 2 boys one of whom was 11 and the other about 5 so something was amiss.
We told him that when we called noone said that toddlers were not allowed and I told him the ages of the kids so he said that we should make her stop bothering the customers (noone was even looking in our direction) we asked for some bread and once she had some food in her she became calm and happy.
The food I cannot say a bad thing about it was masterfully done and presented and though it wasn't your haut cuisine it was definitely tasty and prepared well to the specification of the client. I can't say a bad word about the service either save that of the initial encounter and necessity to bring a stroller into the...
Read moreWe were sat down and greeted. Water was brought. White table cloth and and warm ambiance. The restaurant is small but cosy, approximately 12 tables.. I was worried about the size but when we got there we were very pleasantly surprised. Trust me, I am a critic.
Very polite staff, casual friendly not stuffy. You can have a joke and the owners make it fun without being intrusive.
I felt the menu items were of quality and freshness was outstanding.
We had the calamari and it was cooked to perfection. The red sauce that came with it was a touch spicy and the calamari was golden brown and tender. Was the best calamari I have had.
My linguini and clams were fantastic. Pasta cooked to perfection and sauce very tasty. Not salty, not spicy. The clams were of moderate size. Again, It was probably the best linguini and clams I have ever had.
The rest of the party had the pene pasta with vodka sauce, ham and peas and veal scaloppine.
The pene pasta was al dente. The sauce very well done, not too creamy and not too rich. I know this because I went back the next day for lunch. Yes I did, and my partner said it was just as good.
The veal scaloppine, I did not taste but it looked good. I was told it was wonderful.
The bread served with the meal was excellent. Crunchy crust and fresh. Served with olive oil and butter.
I had the ricotta cheesecake that I shared with my wife and the others had the lemon slice. The lemon slice was fantastic and the cheesecake was just good. The cake needs to be spruced up, not the best I have had.
We had a fantastic time & I would definitely go back again. I love this place. I have a new goto place.
I truly recommend...
Read moreFirst off, the food is good. The first time I ate there I was standing out front contemplating and a guy walked by and said it's the best restaurant on Main Street. I initially thought that's likely a huge exaggeration. It would depend on what you are in the mood for but it's one of the better eateries in town without question.
The service is very good because the place is small and their team is attentive. Part of that team includes the owners. It's white table cloth but not the stuffy type. I'll also say it's an adult spot and it's a restaurant. There's no bar to hangout at. I wouldn't call it small kid friendly but they are very accommodating and would make it work if you came with a young child.
It's an open environment and at full capacity you can feel the energy and hear people talking at the next table. The owners might stop by your table to check in and their desserts are also very good. I've become a regular and when I can't do a complete meal I'll stop in to order dessert to go. The pistachio cheesecake has become my favorite. Yes I said pistachio cheesecake! Don't judge..LOL.. True story, the first time I was asked about my dessert choice one of the owners heard me make a negative comment about it. He came over and said I'm going to let you try it on me. I did and loved...
