Horrible restaurant. We waited an hour and 20 minutes for our meal. We were the first table to be seated and about 45 minutes into our wait the entire restaurant had food on their table. We even told our waitress we needed to leave a certain time which ultimately would have given us an hour and 40 mins for our dining experience. Our waitress did not fill our drinks not once. About an hour in we asked to speak to a manger. Who would have thought salads and burgers would take so long. Instead a different waiter came to us and apologized and promised our food would be out soon. 20 mins later our food arrives. One of the burgers was not rare but raw! Completely raw. We showed one of the waiters to which he jumped backed with a horrified face and said “that’s bad!” From the time we received our food we had 20 minutes to eat, pay and leave. We were rushed so bad that one friends got sick in the bathroom. The whole server team was completely aware of our terrible experience and only compensated us for the barely eaten raw burger. When we asked if they could do anything else they said “you don’t have to tip above the 20 percent that was already added to your bill”. Why would we tip? I’ve had better service from a fast food restaurant. Mind you, 3 people from our group are restaurant managers. If anything, we are more understanding of these situations. But to be the first table in a restaurant and for it to take an hour and 20 mins to receive burgers and salads is laughable. Not once did our waitress check on us or fill our drinks. And then you tell us you will compensate our experience by suggesting us not to tip on top of the 20 percent already added? This restaurant is a joke. We have called every day since and apparently, the manager has been off for 3 days now. Maybe that would explain why this restaurant is run so poorly or maybe he is avoiding us. And to add a laugh, when we were leaving we over hear our waitress telling another table who had asked for a suggestion off the menu “we are busy right now so I would suggest a...

On Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, we visited Tarrytown and the Lyndhurst Castle with friends. The place we had thought of going was closed on Saturday's for brunch, so we had to scramble to find somewhere to eat. It was 2pm, and we were starving. A phone call or two later resulted in the recommendation from a friend to try Sweet Grass Grill. One more phone call secured us a table. We walked in a bit early, but were seated immediately.
Two rounds of Bloody Mary's (mine was Virgin as I had to do the driving) and 4 meals later we were all incredibly satisfied. I had the Lumberjack combination: a pancake, 2 eggs over easy, bacon, and vegetable hash. Only one pancake, but it turn out it was more than sufficient: applesauce was used in the making of it, and it was so thick and hearty (with real maple syrup to top it off) that I couldn't have had more. The bacon was good, but the vegetable hash wasn't quite to my taste. The Bloody (or Virgin) Mary's we all had however were an incredibly tasty drink. The bartender certainly knew how to make the most popular drink in the world, and to do it so you tasted every element of the drink. Even the olive held it's own.
I wish I could remember what the other's in my party had to eat, but there wasn't a morsel left on anyone's plate -- it was just that good!
So, recommendation: go to Sweet Grass when you're in the neighborhood. Parking is tough in downtown Tarrytown (something the locals all complain about I understand) but it's well worth the visit. And so will a nice walk around the Main Street area stores, too. Full of gift possibilities for friends and family...
Read moreMy family and I were in town randomly for a concert at the Music Hall and we stumbled upon this place. The staff could not have been more accommodating. Even though they were fully booked for the night they allowed us to sit with an understanding that they would need the table by 6:20pm. It was 4:50 so we had plenty of time to get a meal in.
The staff grabbed high chairs for our kids and even asked us where we wanted them positioned (very thoughtful). They put us a nice table in the corner (Perfect spot for a table with two kids under 3).
My wife and I were blown away by the food. Probably the best roasted chicken I have had out in over a decade. Ribs were like candy and fell off the bone. AND THE MUSHROOM SPECIAL OVER GRITS WAS TO DIE FOR. We live an hour and half away from Tarrytown but I’d do the drive again just for the dish.
Whilst enjoying our to die for food I noticed the incredible bourbon selection they had over the bar. We are talking about the full line up of Weller, EH Taylor, various Elijah Craig’s and so on. The manager Ricardo saw me staring at the selections and let me know that the owner has been building the bourbon selection with the hopes of doing a bourbon night in the future and he encouraged me to sign up for their email list. Out of curiosity I asked how much a 2oz pour of Weller Full Proof would be, fully expecting it to be priced close to 65 plus dollars. Shockingly he told me they only charged $40 for the 2oz pour. For a value like that I couldn’t say no. Ricardo brought the bottle directly to my table and gave me a GENEROUS 2 ounces.
If I could give this place 6 stars I would. This was the best experience we have had eating out in a long time. Cheers to the owner, manager, and staff for a great time. We greatly...
