The place that, itself shows movies, feels in many ways as if it is the subject of a movie… a feel good movie about underdogs and sincerity, a movie about perseverance and commitment. You know, one of those feel good movies about someone with a dream of saving an old theater in a changing world. Kiggins is one of those amazing old places that holds on to an old world feeling, that still believes in integrity and customer service. They have a good sound system, a great looking environment, interesting and fun movies, and the best popcorn in town. We run into the owner and he bubbles with enthusiasm and commitment. What other movie theater does that happen?
You have to come and check the old projector in the lobby, it’s like a giant prop from an old science fiction movie, ready to train a beam of energy on the massive invading ants. The place just drips with history. Kids necking in the back row, Cary Grant and Marlene Dietrich, Citizen Cane and Casa Blanca. It’s one of those places you should take your out of town friends, one of the local attractions that make...
Read moreI love this place. Old theater that's been renovated but maintains it's nostalgic feel. Plenty of parking in surrounding area, but you'll have to park on street (possible parallel parking although there are diagonal spaces, too). REAL BUTTER on the popcorn and a variety of movies and shows to see. I attended the Thursday night comedy show and was pleasantly surprised at the caliber of comedians (well worth the entry fee - I've paid a lot more for a lot less laughs at other places)! Brews and Ciders on tap during comedy show, too. My spouse and kid have become regulars at their Friday Fright Nights, seeing Nosferatu, The Thing and the classic, Piranha. Nosferatu is a silent film accompanied by LIVE musicians - are you kidding me? How COOL is that? My preteen and spouse loved it. Highly recommend!
UPDATE 2023: Kiggins is still rocking it. Still the best movie...
Read moreOut of the original twelve this is the only single screen theater left. Second run and Art House films. Take you children so they can experience films the way you and your parents did. They have the best seats in South Washington, so comfortable. They also have the best consesson stand of any theater in the area. Adult beverages up stairs for people that enjoy that, I don't. Super nice staff, thank you ladies. I only noticed two things I was not happy with, the movie was projected in the wrong aspect ratio, hint: titles were slight cut off. And they still have a bit of slap echo, the back of the theater needs some sound deadening material. Relax and enjoy the movie without the kids kicking the back of your seat. Go and support...
