This is a great shopping experience in Georgetown ā make up shopping is typically a very overwhelming and overstimulating experience where I expect to spend an insane amount of time searching and skin testing a lot of different products. The simplified high- quality product line at Glossier and the experience of shopping in-person here is actually really great, not stressful, and I always leave here feeling like the visit to the Glossier store was a mood boost:) Glossier is one of the only brands I ever shop in-person for and thatās only because they do such a great job at their D.C. location. The staff are lovely, very kind, happy to help, knowledgeable on their products and seem very genuinely passionate about the brand and proud of their store - something that is hard to find in the retail industry. Itās also just a beautiful building, itās open, high ceilings, and generally bright and airy, it does not feel cramped, thereās plenty of seating by the pick up area. Itās also got this vintage flight/ plane theme, has sort of an adventure-y vibe to it that is very cute, not overdone, and adds a fun element to the experience. For Georgetown this is an amazing space since sidewalks, streets here are so crowded itās nice to be able to go into a physical store that feels laid back and upbeat. Glossier did...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been a big time Glossier fan since 2015, and was excited to stop in to purchase a new mascara stick. I must have missed the memo or understanding of the store, but the concept didnāt make any sense to me and was frustratingly inefficient.
The first level is all white and airplane themed, leading to a staircase where all of the products and show room is upstairs. To be honest, I donāt understand how you access it if you have a disability. I didnāt see any elevator or bathroom. I also donāt understand how this company can afford rent on M street for an empty white āportalā on the ground level - this store will not last long here in Georgetown.
After waiting to track someone down to pay for my item, I then had to go back to a room and wait again while a conveyor belt brought up my product. It was incredibly inefficient, and frustrating for someone familiar with the products who just wanted to be in and out. I was told to take selfies in the selfie room behind the flip boards while I waited. (But why?) Again, seems like a waste of valuable retail space.
I love their products, this retail concept was lost on me. I will never again go in, and save time and energy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat experience. Clean stations. Staff need more training.
I'm not sure if staff aren't acclimated to the scene or they're not trained well, but the staff review is as follows;
They loomed ethnic parties at the swatch stations and they never approached to offer help. You had to fight for their attention to place your order.
I also picked up an online order and the young lady at "baggage claim" gave me erroneous directions to retrieve my items. "You pick up orders down stairs." Others instructed me to pick up orders from baggage claim. After reiterating my dilemma different times, she asked for my name and order number. She then sent a note to the storage area and my order appeared.
EDIT: This is a very confusing aspect, even on the website.
WARNING! THE BALM DOT COM ARE NOT FLAVORED! THE STORE REP ASSURED US THAT THESE HAD FLAVOR. CHERRY, MANGO, AND COCONUT TASTE LIKE PETROLEUM.
Edit #2: Lavender Balm dot calm and Cookie Butter balm dot calm are slightly sweet but they still do not have a "flavor". This may just be a nice side effect from the...
