Indochino Georgetown is currently incapable of making custom suits. While it may be due to the pandemic, they need to close it down until they can be a proper business again. Do not go there at this time.
We visited the store in the spring to get my fiancé’s wedding suit. The experience was good. The tailor was competent, he took photos and entered all his measurements in his iPad. Flash-forward to 6 weeks later when the suit arrived (after being told it would be ready in 2-3 weeks) and my fiancé tried it on. It was extremely big, by three to four sizes, and looked like it was made for someone else. We kept calling to make an appointment for alterations but nobody ever picked up. We tried to make an appointment online but there weren’t any available for over a month (yes, over a month to alter a suit that had already been bought). Eventually, we got an appointment due to a cancelation.
We were “greeted” that second time by an unpleasant and unprofessional staff member who was supposedly a tailor. After my fiancé put the baggy suit on she said “how does it look?”, to which he responded that it was clearly too big. She kept asking us to tell her where to take fabric in. She was clearly not a tailor and had no idea what she was doing. She kept scratching him, pinning the suit to his shirt and underwear and tore the fabric, all while being sarcastic and mocking him. We kept telling her to mark the alterations on the suit but she assured us everything would be done right and wrote a few things on a post-it note. While everything was too big, it was too tight on the shoulders. She said that when the problem is in the shoulders, it can’t be fixed in house and didn’t offer a solution or apologize for the mistake. When we asked how this suit could be so wrong, she threw her colleague under the bus and said the previous tailor didn’t do his job.
My fiancé picked up the “final” suit yesterday. The same employee was there and just sent him home with the suit. When he tried it on at home, the suit was still a disaster. Only the waist had been fixed; the suit was still baggy in the pants, particularly the seat. There was way too much excess material in the chest making it look boxy and unfitted because the shoulders were mis-measured. At this point, Indochino has shown that it is clearly incapable of doing this suit correctly and we have lost many months for absolutely nothing. We took it to a professional tailor who was astonished at what had been done and candidly said that unfortunately it couldn’t be tailored; it would need to be reconstructed and the only solution would be to start over.
We ordered a suit from Nordstrom, which will be ready in a week. Indochino said that it would take another 5 weeks to re-order a new suit and start from scratch. Even though it’s their mistake, they are refusing to give us a refund. We hope they will realize the extent of their mistakes after reading this review and not try to shift the blame on us or make excuses. This is not an acceptable way to...
Read moreI'll admit: I was wary of rolling the dice with Indochino. A friend of mine had a nightmare experience with the Tysons location and had to go through 3-4 iterations of tailoring/retailoring before his suits fit him correctly. Against his recommendation, I decided to pull the trigger anyway and chose the Georgetown showroom instead. I'm so glad I did. I made an appointment and showed up at 2pm on a Monday. Due to COVID restrictions, it was just the tailor--a really chill, polite guy named Aaron--and me. No one else in the entire joint. Aaron worked so fast I thought "there's no way he's getting these measurements right." At 6'6 and 195 lbs, I have a unique physique. I went with a two-piece Tipton Navy suit with floral noir lining on the jacket. The suit came in today and I'm happy to report that it turned out beautifully. Aaron's swift work belied his precision, and I have to say that it fits 100% as expected. I'll definitely be taking advantage of Indochino's generous $75 tailoring credit, simply because after trying the the slacks on I realized I'd like a little more taper to the hem. That's on me though. Should be a quick and easy adjustment. All told, the whole affair cost just under $350 and took less than two weeks from start to finish (fitted on August 31, shipped from China on Sept. 8 and delivered today on Sept. 11).
Without a doubt, your experience with Indochino hinges on the attentiveness and expertise of the showroom and tailor you pick. Those variables alone will determine whether you end up with a nice, inexpensive bespoke suit within two weeks or find yourself frustratedly getting re-measured and having to wait for the second (or third) cut. That said, you might get lucky like I did and end up with a great tailor and a...
Read moreOverall I would say I had a positive experience with Indochino but I'm not sure I would use their service gain. Mainly I was nervous going into the process of getting a tux for my wedding and the service / quality left something to be desired. My initial stop at Indochino to get measured led to a sales associate who completely ignored me, tried to sell me a suit (when I said I was getting a tux), was very distracted, and measured incorrectly several key elements. I noticed this when the tux came in and the sleeves were a few inches too short, the pants also did not fit consistent with my expectations. It was at this point that the store manager, Chris Allen, stepped in and I must give real kudos too. He took over immediately after getting an email note from me and brought me in to take a look. Remeasuring me through the process he ensured we got a tux jacket reordered and walked me through their process (something that I thought would have happened from the outset), which included making things (generally) a bit big so they can then be tailored to expectation. That made more sense and the reorder went smoothly. Further the pants were able to be tailored to my expectations. Chris would be the main reason I would think about going back to Indochino to be honest, along with another sales associate who truly walked me through my final fitting. What started as a bad experience did get some recovery. The customizations you can do are really neat. Comment on the quality is its not to the level I would expect really. The fabric is a bit rough, rigid, and has an odd feeling to it. I prefer my suits and tuxes with a bit more stretch in them. Overall the tux is beautiful and was a great addition for the wedding but I think I may go somewhere else...
