We selected Emion because of its proximity to river views. We had a balcony room and the views delivered. The accommodations were very nice (almost felt like no one had stayed in the room before us!): spacious, clean, pretty well thought out, The studio was designed for longer term stays as it included a full size refrigerator, induction stovetop, electric kettle, microwave, and a washer/dryer. Housekeeping was thorough, with all services provided. If we needed cooking utensils, we just had to ask at front desk. ||||There are a few blips to be worked out. ||—There are only 2 very small garbage cans in the suite, like the 1 gallon size. I appreciate they recycle, but a few Kleenexes and an empty toilet tissue roll will fill up the garbage. If you were to cook meals, that could be an issue. ||—For those of us using USB chargers, please know there are only 2 in the entire suite. Both are located in the bedroom , one on each side of the bed. There wasn’t one located in the working desk area. If I was here on business or using a laptop, I’d really be annoyed. Even with just 2 of us, we constantly had to switch out devices for charging. A wider question maybe someone could address: many devices now have wireless charging. I’ve been in hotels with these charger types in the lamps or furniture in each room. Why is it hard to find in new hotels?||—The front desk was happy to assist us with electricity plug converters, but not the type we needed. My watch is now dead and my pad doesn’t get much above 50% battery charge overnight. Seems odd. ||—If you’re traveling with people staying on a floor other than yours, you cannot go to their rooms on the elevator. You room key only gives access to your room floor. I appreciate security, but I also like to know I don’t have to go through hoops to meet up with friends on another floor. ||||While the above notes aren’t showstoppers, they are or can be annoying. I’d stay here again because it’s quiet and as safe as any hotel I’ve syed in. The restaurant menu is limited, but the food is good and the wait...

The bed is positioned horribly. If you're a single traveller it is positioned fine, but the positioning of the bed doesn't allow both people, if sleeping two, to access their side of the bed. As seen in the attached photo one side of the bed is pushed up against the wall. An absolutely ridiculous layout, especially for a "suite".
On top of that... The pool is disgusting. The water is merky. The pool drains off the side (similar to an infinity pool) into an area that is filled with algae which recycles into the pool. Having a pool, in such a warm climate, is an absolute must for us as we travel and often a big part of choosing a hotel; the view from the pool, despite looking good in photos, is blocked by white dots on the glass... And as I said, the pool is grimy and makes you feel like you just soaked in filth coming out.
If you're looking for a generic high rise hotel building with cookie cutter rooms (outside the suites) it is a clean place, other...
Read moreThis hotel kicked off our 2 1/2 week trip across Cambodia last month and my husband and I really loved the wonderful view of the Mekong and the Tonle Sap rivers from both the restaurant, where breakfast (which was not included but they offer a great buffet for $12 pp) was served - and from the gorgeous infinity rooftop pool. The pool with its epic view, the friendly staff, the modern upscale, large and clean rooms and great overall service are all plus points, that make us recommend Hotel Emion to anyone traveling to Phnom Penh, who desires to stay near the river. On our arrival-night we opted for eating dinner at the hotel, this was the only thing that wasn't very satisfying as for the limited Asian options on the menu and a bit of a 'bland taste' of the foods we had (noodle soup/ burger/ salad). But otherwise Emion is a really nice hotel, in a great location in town, with many attractions (Palace, Silver Pagoda, Wat Phnom, restaurants) relatively close by in walking distance. Definitely recommend...
