Went in and was pointed to which table I should sit at by an English guy. After a little while he asked 'You got a drink on the way?'. At this point I hadn't even been brought a menu. When I asked if I could have one his response was like 'Sure, just ask if you need one' - suggesting as if his poor service was my fault. As if that's how restaurant service works. Very much the usual and typical arrogance that expat business owners have in SE Asia. My beer arrived eventually - in a can. No glass offered so had to flag down a waitress and ask. Dinner came, no cutlery did, so had to flag someone down again. The beef was good, the Yorkshire pud was chewy and cold. Far too much mashed potato and lacking in everything else - I guess mashed potato is cheap so fills the plate. No condiments offered e.g. mint etc. No one approached during the meal - of course you have to ask. The dinner wasn't served hot which is an absolute killer with a roast. The place was cramped (only had 4 tables in the bar area so literally had someone standing at my shoulder waiting for a table), and dark and wouldn't return. You can forgive a lot with good service, but this place didn't have it. High rating surprises me. I’d suggest you go to 'Craft' which is down the alleyway right next door - fabulous service and great...
Read moreArrived in Cambodia early in the morning so needed to kill time before I could check in. Lucky that this bar was open at around 9 and also serving! Sweet!
Friendly service, ordered a beer. Some of the local brew - a pint of Krud. Went down well.
After a while, ordered something to eat - a bacon butty - which was not bad at all. That and the beer for my breakfast, living the life! Stayed for a few more beers after The menu looks quite good - they offer a range of western dishes - mostly UK classics and they have 26 craft beers on tap - which is pretty cool to see in this town. They also offer specials - drink as much as you can for 90 minutes for a set price, for example.
Returned for a second day, and got an all out burger for 7.50 dollars - Burger had bacon and the cheese was melting all over the burger, nice and tasty, exactly how I like it.
The bar was small but not so busy both times I was there, early morning and late afternoon. Plenty of seating inside, and can sit at the bar. Service was efficient and friendly. Not a bad...
Read moreThe best fish and chips in Phnom Penh! I mean I haven't had all the fish and chips in Phnom Penh but The Box Office delivers where others have failed. The batter was crispy and tasty. The fish was fresh and flaky with a satisfying texture. Not too moist and mushy like others. The chips were perfect chip truck style chips. Excellent mushy peas, pico de gallo and tartar sauce on the side. Of course malt vinegar is available to make it truly authentic. Jalapeno poppers were also super tasty. Nice that they had a mix of mozzarella and cream cheese. Last but far from least their bloody Mary was undoubtedly the best in Phnom Penh and possibly far beyond. Spicy, flavourful and rich tomato taste, unlike some more watery attempts that you can find throughout the city. Topped with candied bacon, pork crackling, pickled onions and celery. It was truly the best. Not to mention the awesome selection of craft beers and great outdoor dining space. Top notch,...
