Himawari Hotel Apartments — Hotel in Khan Daun Penh

Excellent experience staying here for 14 days. Room service was the most intuitive and proactive, helping out with anything at all. Friendiest concierge and staff, always with a smile.

Rooms had bathtubs and both were very well maintained and cleaned. Bodywash, Shampoo, Conditioner, Shaving kit, Brushing kit, Hairnet, Ear Cleaning kit were provided which was a pleasant surprise. Water bottles are provided. Microwave, Oven, Fridge, Freezer, Kettle, dishes and cutlerys included in the kitchen. Proper washing machine with heated wash cycle included in the room. Other standard hotel items like iron are provided as well but no hairdryer.

TV had international channels including football channels. I'd recommend bringing your own thumbdrive with downloaded media to play on the TV. Excellent WiFi coverage as well.

Rest of the hotel was beautifully decorated during Christmas. Love the large red tiles on the floors, gives a old school rustic vibe. 14 days of Buffet, Himawari was consistent in serving excellent international buffet which includes a nice spread of cheeses, fresh fruits and baked goods every time. MicroBrewary, Massage Parlour, Swimming Pool, Steam room, Gym and other amenities were up to date.

Barely any mosquitos and no insects. Balcony had Mosquito net which allowed for fresh air to enter the living hall.

Lastly, Location, Location, Location. Himawari has a stunning walkway right behind which leads to the main square. Prime location since it's close to all the attractions. Hotel has a large collection of tour phamplets that should provide very good options for city and boat tours.

Bonus: there's a Philip Bank ATM in front of the concierge that supports Visa and MasterCard.

The scenery so close to the riverside and the landscaping of the hotel is incredible, the suite 501 which I had for 2 nights was spacious and clean, the bedding so soft and comfortable and the best feature of his hotel is the staff who are attentive to your needs and will go out of their way to make sure your stay however short or long is memorable! They are so well trained , professional and friendly that I have to name those that I personally encountered starting with Oun Sreypov who was my first contact at the hotel: her marketing skills to get me to think about Himawari as a viable choice to stay as I was attending a wedding there and was scouting out other hotels along the riverside area, was admirable! So those at the top pay attention and invest into not only Oun Sreypov but Sister Sothea who was at the reception desk, Oun Chhong, Oun Piseth, Oun Reaskmey and Oun Sokkunthea ( at breakfast buffet) and Oun Sainit! |BUT WHY DID I GIVE THIS HOTEL ONLY A 3 rating with all of the admirable traits above? One room i was assigned to on 4th floor, was designated non-smoking, I had to acknowledge this on the form at the registration desk that I would not be smoking:however other guests had their front door open to their room with cigarette smoke flowing out, usually they are told to smoke on the balcony but then even if you sit on your balcony to enjoy the view and air, the smoke comes over to your space and all over you! So just opening my door to my suite I was surrounded by the smoke ! I changed to 501 which was amazing but in other outdoor spaces when you want to sit and just enjoy being outside, away from the construction and noise of where I live, I sadly could NOT! So for a non-smoker this is not a viable option...
