Where to begin...I tried to book from the their website on Wed evening for a 149.00 transaction but it wouldn't work so I ended up trying to book again in the morning and the rate was increased to 189.00. I booked it hoping I would be able to get the rate adjusted at the hotel upon my arrival to the hotel. I showed up at 12 noon ...hoping by some luck my room would be ready they told me to come back at 4 pm...so I did come back as they told me and my room was not ready. They said come back at 5 pm ....that irked me they did not have the room ready yet.
Unfortunately 3 different staff said they will not match website prices..which is odd because it was from their own website, I took a snapshot to have proof but they still said no. Manager was not in until Friday for me to discuss this with. I was leaving Thursday.
Got my room on the main floor which I requested because stairs are my enemy because I was recently in a car accident. Upon entering my room there was a huge stain on the carpet and the floor was filthy. Beds looked fine but the room is desperately in need to be renovated. example; mis- matching ceiling light fixtures, one was an incredibly ugly brass ceiling light fixtures and old ugly furniture. This place like many motels in jasper have a good occupancy rate yeat round so they really need to invest in spending some money on the interior decor of this property.
Next issues....the room next door contained a couple of people. As soon as they checked in out came the beer and they were sitting outside enjoy the evening...which is fine, but what is not fine is the fact they were smoking cigarettes and weed for several hours ..i figure it was about 4 hours outside their hotel room. There was a cigarette post ashtray right outside their door....which according to many bylaws is supposed to be more than 10 feet ( 3 meters ) away ......this ashtray is clearly not the proper distance according to bylaws. The smell from their smoke was coming directly into my room. I mentioned this to the check out staff upon me vacating the next day and the response was......we will speak to the guests tonight...first of all they may not even be staying in the room the next evening and secondly they should have provided a discount for me suffering next to these guys who were smoking like it was the last time they would ever take a puff. I did not call the front desk in the evening to complain because of my initial response of the front staff upon my checkin as well they close the front desk early.
Many years ago I stayed in this hotel and I vowed never to stay in it again...well I made a big mistake booking this hotel and I will never stay in that place again.
I try and look at the positive in posting reviews but I just can't recommend this place. There are many other better places to stay in Jasper....and £ visit Jasper 2 - 4 times per year.
I hope the management at least removes the smoking posts and ensure the guests go to the corner of the property to light up....we should be able to enjoy nature not smell smoke upon our visits.
I give 1 stars because the beds were decent and 2 stars because I was provided a main floor room as I...
Read moreWe stayed for a weekend at the Maligne Lodge in a one bedroom suite. We chose this room as we were travelling with our German Shepherd and figured this was the best of the pet-friendly options to give us all the room we need, and room to set up her wire crate.
The room came with a pull-out sofa, sofa chair, coffee table and desk and chair in the living area with fireplace and flat screen TV. The kitchen area had a table and two chairs, and included a fridge/freezer, microwave, and stove. The kitchen comes equipped with that you’d need - dishes, cutlery, other kitchen utensils, cups, glasses, pots and pans, toaster, ice bucket, cutting board, tea pot, coffee maker, etc. Bedroom. Had one double bed with night stands on each side and a dresser/credenza unit. The bathroom was a standard hotel bathroom.
The room gave us the space we were wanting and we had lots of room to set up our wire crate. After a busy day of hiking, strolling around, it was great to come back and just chill on the couch for a bit.
I have some minor nitpicks, though. Not enough to change my rating or be truly bothersome, but worth mentioning, I think. The first was that when our room neighbours were using their fireplace, the scent of the enviro-log would linger in our room. Not the end of the world but for those who are scent-sensitive, it might be an issue. It smelled like burning candles, so it wasn’t unpleasant but it could be an issue for some.
The way the wiring is set up is that the light switches need to be on for the lamps in the living room and bedroom to be on. So, as we found out, if you use the same outlet as a lamp is plugged in to your charge your phone, if the switch isn’t on, your phone won’t charge. Just something to be mindful of.
While there is parking all over, around back it was parallel parking in stalls that were meant for vehicles, not trucks. So, depending on what people are driving, you might have to park on the street if a spot isn’t available - which isn’t a big deal.
Last was that the light switch and the thermostat were behind the flat screen TV, which kind of hides them, especially the thermostat because it’s further along inside the wall. We had some trouble getting in the zone for temperature, but the suite itself is on the main floor/lower level and away from the pool so the temperature wasn’t bad. Some of the main floor rooms are directly off the pool - so the room door opens and you’re on the pool deck - so temperature control might be trickier in those rooms. The windows in the suite do open so you have an option to get fresh air, too.
The hotel itself is at the end of the main drag, so if you’re wanting to park your car and walk, it’ll take 10-15 minutes to get to the core of the town. The benefit is that it’s very quiet - little vehicle and foot traffic.
The staff were super friendly and great. We’ll...

Originally booked this hotel for 280$ For 2 nights, which seemed somewhat reasonable because the pictures online seemed pleasing... (little did we know this place was awful so don’t be fooled) Then a few days later we saw an add posted for the same standard room but it was listed 178$ for 2 nights. We called the hotel and I spoke to a woman at the front desk with the First name “Sarah” . She told me that she could change our reservation to match the one with the lowest cost. Obviously we were quite happy with that, and Sarah assured us that we would only have to pay 89$ a night. When came time to checkout, the total came to well over 300$ Being very much confused, I explained that I had spoken to a lady prior and she assured us that she had changed the reservation to the Cheapest one. After a long wait, the front desk lady told us there was NOTHING she could do and that we had to pay the full 315$ I couldn’t believe this, considering she had called 2 managers to see if something could be done. However she didn’t even give us 10% off like other guests got because their room was unsatisfactory and disgusting. But nope, we paid the full price and dealt with the most unhelpful staff I’ve ever talked to. Sarah really screwed up and if it were up to me I’d have her fired. This trip was supposed to mark our anniversary but it was totally ruined by a gross room and a lying unknowledgeable personelle.
This “hotel” was absolutely disgusting and NOT worth 150$ a night. Every bad review about this place is accurate. It was so Dirty the carpets looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in well over a year, the bathtub was grey and covered in hairs, they even gave us a microwave that had old food splatters covering the inside. It was way too hot to sleep, noisy air conditioning, and above all that we found a TAMPON under our bed which clearly shows the lack of cleanliness in that place. Needless to say we will not be back here and we will advise anyone going to Jasper to AVOID THIS PLACE...
