We arrived in Jasper late in the day, and were tired but super-hungry. We settled into our Airbnb, and began looking at some restaurants we’d previously checked out, hoping to be seated for dinner around 8:15. The Birch was on our list of contenders based solely on the menu we saw online, and the reviews, but when we found that so many places in Jasper close at 9 (and we didn’t want to rush), The Birch rose to the top of our list, with a closing time of 11pm.

We were SO glad it turned out that way. What a great experience. 10 out of 10.

My husband ordered the Herb Marinated Chicken, and I ordered the Shrimp Garlic Pasta. Both orders were beautifully plated, and I became one of those people who drive me a little batty, because I took a photo of the dish. :)

Not only did it look wonderful, but it tasted incredible. It was one of the best shrimp dishes I’ve ever eaten. No kidding. It had a light (but bursting with garlic) sauce, with a perfect touch of red pepper flakes, and shaved parmesan, as well as some tomatoes and broccoli. The shrimp was perfectly cooked too.

Hubs loved his meal as well. It was in a mushroom sauce, and I can’t eat mushrooms, so I’ll have to take his word for it, but he was clearly loving it. He also ordered a local IPA that he raved about.

The members of the service staff were incredibly friendly, and helpful. The food was served quickly, and we never felt rushed. The prices were reasonable too.

Tonight was our last night in Jasper, and since our the first dinner there, we’d planned to make The Birch our final evening’s dinner spot.

The Shrimp Garlic Pasta from our first night was so good, I ordered it again (when something’s that good, it’s hard not to want it again…), but the hubs tried something new: Chicken Parmigian. Once again: a delicious meal for both of us.

I HIGHLY recommend this place if you’re looking for a comfortable atmosphere that’s not loud (great for couples) … with gorgeous platings, an excellent and friendly service staff, and absolutely...

My family and I ate here on the evening of July 12th.The patio atmosphere and overall restaurant attracted us as we were just walking and searching for a dinner spot. It was busy as well which is a good sign that the food is worth the wait. They warned us that it could be an hour wait and we appreciated it and decided to stay and have some coffee (had a longish drive to Valemount after dinner), cocktails (wife and oldest daughter) and pop for my youngest.

The service there was excellent with everyone we interacted with being very polite, cheerful, and friendly (unfortunately rare to have 2 let alone all 3 of those traits) and allowed us to move inside from the patio after being there for about 45 minutes. Sun got hidden by the mountains and it got chilly out.

I ate one of the best burgers I've ever had period. It was so flavorful. It was called the "Bacon cheese burger". That Birch sauce really added some amazing flavor and the homemade chunk beef burgers are amazing! Overall, a bit messy but manageable and so worth it!!! My youngest and my wife also had the same as I and they loved it too! The fries were also excellent! Almost like truffle fries.

Next time we come to Jasper, we'll be back...

The server, a lady with brown hair, had an extremely awful attitude. We, a party of two, wanted to sit at a table for four by the window in a restaurant that was only about 20% full this morning at around 11am. Two guests before us had been seated at the same type of table. Despite this, the servers kept ignoring us, chatting with each other while we stood waiting. When she finally acknowledged us, she kept pointing to a smaller table in the back from a distance, asking us to sit there. We respectfully gestured that we wanted to speak with her, but she ignored us. We had to approach her to ask about the table, and she responded with a scolding tone, saying it was a table for four. Frustrated, we respectfully pointed out that two guests before us had taken the same type of table before She finally relented, saying, "Ok, fine, I'll clean it." with her eyes rolling. We've been in Jasper for a number of days now and every single restaurant we had been to had great / excellent service. This is the honestly the worst / most awkward service we have had in Canada for the past 10 years. Will never return and would not suggest any of our...

We got the prime rib panini, Philadelphia roll, and onion burger. The prime rib panini was $30 or so and the meat was all fat and when I say fat I mean maybe 1/4 of the sandwich was meat. I included the photo of the meat on my sandwich. But since I pulled it off and continued to eat the empty bun and some fries they did charge me for it. I was also told that that much fat is normal on their sandwich and next time I should ask for it to be cut off. Oh ok. I really thought trimming excess fat off was part of the job but apparently not. Anyways the Philadelphia roll was good and the burger was ok, small though. We are from the next town over and we come to jasper often but we won’t ever be back here. No way Jo say. Edit to add the positive reviews are likely people who want the free dessert with the good photos and good review they have to submit for free churros. Ignore them, they just wanted a snack. I didn’t take them up on any offers. Head to the raven! Awesome food everytime.
