Don’t be fooled by this oddly shaped, white-walled, unassuming place with cracked window seals and aged dining furniture, all of which would turn away a supercilious interior designer at first glance. But I guarantee you - if you walk away, you would undoubtedly miss out on one of the best Indian meals you may ever have.
When I bit into that samosa, the flavours exploded in my mouth - the combination of chickpeas, spiced potatoes, onions in that perfectly fried shell - and transported me to New Delhi. Mind you, I’d never been there and the restaurant owner(s) probably never did too.
Next came the saag paneer. So a bit of a backstory - tonight, I was really digging some palak paneer. It probably borders on obsession. When it wasn’t on the menu, I frowned but then asked if they could make me a dish similar to it. To my delight, my server obliged my request. Now this may be the best-tasting paneer I’ve ever had. Once again, I sat there savouring that first bite, closing my eyes and thinking, “I never want this feeling to end.”
The goat masala came out next. The meat was tender and flavourful, though not as spicy as I’d like it to have been. But I’m one of those that prefer spicy dishes on fire. Still, the masala sauce was warm, aromatic, earthy - just the perfect compliment to the paneer dish.
I ordered garlic naan as a side and ras malai for dessert, both of which were delightfully and sinfully good. I could eat these two items for days on end. Unfortunately, my hockey teammates may not appreciate me putting on weight.
This - the food, the experience - all of it was made with love. My only regret was that I could not finish half of what I’d ordered but Indian food does make for the best leftovers in any case.
Oh, and my server was a delight to talk to. As you’ve gathered from my very short review, I don’t talk much. So I found it surprising that I wanted to know more about their restaurant and asked if they had designs to expand further beyond Jasper. They do, and the world would be...

Read moreWe went to dine in after a long day with a toddler. Toddler’s behavior is unpredictable since they are still in developing stage. Once his car fell to the floor, he was loud to get our attention and wanted us to get his car as he still can’t formulate words. This happened twice. When it happened second time, restaurant employe came to us and told us that “this is second time he is notifying us that other tables have complained about this voice”. This was wrong because this was the first time he mentioned it to us. We do not do any screen time with him due to the data published in research studies concluding the impact of screen time in early age on mental growth. It’s very easy to just give him YouTube and let him watch all the high definition videos. We always try to engage him in an activity to keep his mind occupied while focusing on his learning. We go to dine in at many English restaurants also where they provide us with crayons and this keeps him busy and help him learn drawing while we all enjoy our food. Child’s attitude is different than adults as it is in learning stage and they don’t know the social norms. We even asked if we can sit outside but restaurant was short staffed and they couldn’t accommodate this request. We decided to leave without eating our food as we didn’t want to eat under any kind of pressure or sense of being judged by many eyes just because we have a little human who is going through developmental stages. If they knew our baby, they would fall in love with him as he is a very happy baby and many who have seen him on trails, only smiled at him because of his...
