It's not very often that I write a bad review, but I had an overall pretty bad experience here. Enough so that I would never come here or recommend this location again.
Drinks took far too long for the 3 tables that were in the restaurant. Around 40 minutes. We thought of leaving by this point but decided to just stay because we were hungry and tired from snowboarding. They eventually came and food orders were taken. Food again took far longer than it reasonably should have in context. And it was brought out staggered, enough that people were finishing their plates before others got their food. My order came out wrong at first and I had to argue with the server when I told her it wasn't what I ordered. Not a complicated overly modified order, just the completely wrong thing was made. They remade it correctly, but by the time it came, most of the table were finished. This is also the point when they brought the meal for my friend beside me, who had ordered it initially with everyone else. A salad with chicken, which probably shouldn't take an hour and a half to make, let alone in a dead restaurant. I was a bit annoyed at the situation already so I asked why the salad took so long (keep in mind, this is probably at least an hour and a half after it was ordered) and the server told me they wanted all of the food to come out together, so they waited. That doesn't make sense when 90% of the table is already finished eating and it didn't even come out together in the first place, right? We then came to find that chicken was raw, so I would guess that they forgot and rushed it. Which we again had to have a discussion about for some reason, despite there being raw chicken on the plate for everyone to see. Having my order come out with the raw chicken after all our other friends were already finishing up made me lose my confidence in the food, so I sent it back and we cancelled our to go order.
I think that the manager needs to be acting like an adult and managing, the staff seriously need training in general hospitality and customer service, and the kitchen needs to be shut down until the cooks know basic food safety. The manager would not come address our table despite multiple people asking multiple times. He was hiding around a corner between the kitchen and dining floor, sending the servers out to deal with everything themselves, which was pretty embarrassing to see. I would have preferred to have him handle our concerns at the time they were happening, instead of leaving us all frustrated and having to write about the experience. So many things going wrong that likely would have been fine or at least manageable individually if they were addressed, but it seemed like the staff didn't really care and the manager definitely didn't, so they kept piling up and just made the dining experience worse and worse. This used to be a great place to come to in Jasper and it was always busy on the weekends. The shiny now open sign tells me it recently changed hands. In my opinion, all the 5 star reviews from around the same time a few weeks ago all look a little suspicious, but I'll let the reader judge that themselves against...
Read moreWe used to come to this Montanas all the time on our ski trips and every single time it was packed with customers and we had a great experience.. until new owners took over obviously recently due to a "now open" sign.
We went with a group of friends and had thee worst experience I have ever had at a resturant. When we first got in we were shocked how quiet it was due to us being used to it being packed full on a weekend. We very quickly understood why the mood/atmosphere compeltely changed.
It took over 45min for us to get our drinks and the resturant was empty. There were only 3 tables. It took us over an hour and a half to get our meals, which they brought out at random times and people were finishing their meals before others even got theirs. They brought one of my friends the wrong meal, and when he addressed it the server argued with him telling him that's what he ordered and the whole table spoke up and said no it was not. We then addressed our other friend who was still waiting on her SALAD. They said oh it's on its way.. clearly lying and completely missed her order. It came out at the same time as our friends burger they had to remake. Not once did they apologize or take accountability for their mistakes.
Then on top of all of that the chicken on her salad was completely raw. It was absolutely disgusting. We sent it back and again had to argue with the server as she was trying to tell us it was cooked because they "cooked it to the time recommeneded" instead of actually making sure it was cooked. We cancelled the other meals that had not come and asked for our bills as we were all disgusted. They proceeded to try and bring us the other meals and we again told them no we don't want them as everyone else is finished and we don't trust their food anymore. The server continued to argue with us and said "I understand but.." Thee worst service ever. We then had to argue again for her to remove the meal that had the raw chicken off the bill.. absolutely ridiculous. We asked for a manager and were completely ignored. He was peeking from around the corner of the wall like a child and never came to speak with us. The server again tried to tell us the chicken was cooked. Which I will attach a picture. She is literally delusional.
Do not go to this place it is horrible. Every single thing about it was horrible. There also used to be a very diverse group of people working here before they changed owners. Now they are all only one specific race, which I find interesting because I'm sure there's lots of people in jasper that are locals and need a job.
Worst experience of my life. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. They should honestly be shut down. I have worked as a cook and a server and in hospitality.. I feel like I can confidently say their cooks have 0 professional experience as well as the rest of their staff and it's just a family running it that only hires their family.
Be careful what reviews you read, the names of the 5 star reviews lately all seem pretty specific to who...

Everything was fine until we were almost done with our lunch. This older lady who happened to be the manager started clearing a table in our area. My Son was just wandering around minding his own business, just being a kid. He was standing by the window admiring the Jasper weekend street traffic. My son is 4 years old. She passed by our table multiple times, and I could tell that something was bothering her. The restaurant was fairly empty and there were multiple tables empty around us. At one point she started cleaning an empty table and came to my wife to ask her to be "Seated" - in a very rude and condescending manner. My wife was standing next to her chair. This lady came back again and this time to tell my Wife to keep my child "Off" that area as she is going to have someone seated there. Again in a very condescending and rude manner. My son was nowhere around that table, He was on his chair or by the window behind our table the whole time. I didn't want to ruin our vacation so we decided to just ignore it for now and deal with it later. As it was getting very offensive & we were almost finished with our meal - I decided to ask for my check. I could see her going to her server and pointing in our direction and saying something. My server arrived with our bill and left the POS for payment. I paid the bill, while we continued to finish our meal and were planning for dessert. This is where it gets interesting - This Manager came around our table and started clearing our table while we were still eating our food & waiting for the dessert that came with the kid's menu. She took the plate away from us while we were still eating. We were shocked and speechless. We felt humiliated!!! At that very moment, our server arrived. I confirmed with our server if that lady was her manager (which she confirmed, yes that rude lady was the restaurant manager) and briefly told her how we felt. Before I could finish my sentence, She broke down in tears and apologized. She mentioned that she was having a very difficult time with her. Holding back her tears, She asked me about the desert but I declined and we left. We are still trying to figure out the reason behind the Manager's hatred towards us - Could it be because we were the only person of color in that restaurant at that time? I am going to escalate this complaint and hold her accountable for her rude and condescending behavior. It amazes me that the restaurant claims to be a family restaurant but shows a complete lack of empathy towards families with young children. I like going to Montana's but now I will never set foot in any of...
