First off, many reviews on here are negative and I am sure justified.
Our experience today, and staying here for 4 nights during a heat wave was:
The receptionist was friendly to us. We are polite and friendly with her.
The room service was done infront of me and the fellow did his best and things were changed and cleaned for me.
There was a fly in the room and I will not make noise over a that type of bug. I grew up with cockroach infestation in an apartment building for 29 years and I have roach senses. During my stay I saw no evidence of roaches and I looked, woke up in the night to check after seeing other reviews. I also want to add that hotels and motels have numerous people and luggage passing through: some people are dirty or carry hitchhiking bugs from their travelling journeys: that does not mean this location is the source of it. I seen no eggs, fecal matter or body parts like antenna or legs. I even checked the drawers and electronics as that's where they love to hide.
I admit the carpet scared me but it was vacuumed infront of me. It's the best they can do until a deep clean or recarpeting takes place. I wear socks and indoor shoes if i am that worried about it.
There was an air-conditioner in the room and I was grateful during the heatwave. The condensation did however make the floor wet or else that might just be the humidity of the room. I was unsure but I am understanding.
I got fresh towels on my second day by room service which did startle me. He knocked many times and announced himself but I was talking on the phone making my way to the door and as I went to unlock it he unlocked it and he also was startled. He was being helpful and asking if I wanted new pillow cases and sheets along with new towels. He had his bag of supplies with him and I heard him knocking on other rooms too. My belongings in the room were all still there in the place I put them as I have autism, ADHD and OCD. I am very observant when paranoid and hypervigilant in strange surroundings.
The couch did have some stains but there was effort to have tried to clean it and my lamp shade was cracked.
However, for a room under $100 I do not know what royalty and luxury other reviewers are looking for. If they paid more than $100 I can sympathize the feeling of outrage but I used Expedia and familiar with the hotels in the area. I spend my money on the food and activities and as long as the room has a locking door, safe windows and fairly clean: I am not picky at all. There is always room for improvement but it's a shared space and some people abuse the facility and the staff when here. I over heard yelling, I seen rudeness and just because staff are Indian with English as a second language does not give permission for abuse. I can understand impatience or the inconvenience patrons might feel but..... It's a cheap room and we are all here for a good time.
This location and hotel/motels neighbouring here for me are in THE BEST spot. It's a good distance for able bodied people to walk to Skylon, casinos and Clifton Hill. The restaurants surround you, the activities are easy to get to. For me being a 20 minute walk up Lundy's Lane to access regular priced fast food, grocery stores and services is what I look for. My room might not have much of a view but I could see the Skylon from my bathroom unfrosted window. I just hung up a towel to ensure privacy, it was not a big deal to me.
The light switches were a bit dirty so I used a cloth and warm water and soap and wiped it myself.
My bed sheets used my black light test and I couldn't smell bleach but I could smell something faint. They were bright white and spotless and if not smelling of bleach and detergent: it also didn't smell rank either.
This place is EXACTLY what I thought I would get. I was surprised to be handed a key for the room instead of a key card but the door has a chain lock on the door. I also have two chairs in the room and if I am worried I used them to block the door. I grew up in a dangerous hood so this is...
Read moreI took my 72yr old Grandmother to Niagara for a night and she got some chocolate on her bedsheet that she ate overnight
Now me, I’ve just always been an honest person, so upon checkout the next day, I said to the man working “just so you know, there’s a little bit of chocolate on the sheet, so don’t be alarmed thinking it was something else (Lol) My grandma is 72 and ate a chocolate bar”. I was honestly making a joke out of it as sheets need to be laundered by the hotel after each stay anyways. The male pakinstani man then proceed to abruptly state “well now I need to go check” and proceed to leave the lobby area. (My Grandma was waiting for me in the car). The man ended up coming back and tried to charge my grandmother $40 for a bedsheet which got a little chocolate on it. I immediately stated that I would NOT accept this. First of all, the previous night, I had to request a plug in heater as the thermostat was broken, I was okay with that though as long as the room was warm. Secondly, there was garbage under the bed from previous stays and the room was not very clean at all. Bathrooms and showers need MAJOR updates. Our neighbours told us their found a white stain on the comforter where their 9 year old son was sleeping, which tells me the comforters obviously do not get laundered after each stay. (Ew)
Long story short, the man charged my card using the credit card number from my ‘deposit’ receipt as shown in the photo (see TRIPADVISOR review for all photos). I had offered to take the sheet to a laundromat to have it cleaned, but he denied. I then went to the room and my grandmother asked what was going on (she had seen him checking the room), I explained and she said “but I washed my shirt this morning with a little soap and it was fine”. So I said ok, took the sheets in the bathroom and scrubbed them in a just a few minutes — As you can see, they are clean. The male came back upstairs and kept screaming and swearing at us that he was going to charge us anyways no matter what we did and to get out. At that point he also got another man up in myself and my grandmothers face, to which point I called the police and locked the door.
Long story short, Police came to the hotel and I got my $40 back. They didn’t want to provide a receipt however the police offer said that I asked for a receipt and need to be provided with one. We waited 20 min for the man to come back and he never did. The rude lady at front desk ended up then just ‘voiding’ the $40 charge and gave me a receipt. DO NOT STAY HERE, they will try to get any last dime from you. Check cleaner and more customer oriented options! Especially...
Read morethis was absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. we needed a last minute cheap room, and mistakenly booked the 'sister' motel, when we got there they said they overbooked and moved us to the fairway which is the one i am currently discussing about. rooms were absolutely horrendous, centipedes in bath tub, blood stains on sheets, brown stains on towels, stains everywhere, AC taped to wall, dust bunnies, etc. When we were about to check out i shut the bathroom door, and because the picture frame was not securely hung or bolted to the wall when i shut the door the picture fell on my hand and the glass slit open my thumb. We went to the front desk where they were SO RUDE not caring that theyre lack of safety measures cause this. We didnt even ask for money back or anything, we just went on with the check out to get our deposit back and the assistant manager proceeded to tell us WE broke the frame and that they would not be giving us $100 back for a $10 frame that fell ON ME because it was not securely framed BY THEM. Just for clarity, we are 3 early 20's girls, and this man was middle aged screaming at us. We tried to fight to get our deposit back because he was clearly milking us and saw we were young, but he was yelling, screaming. I let him know he could get in trouble for this since his lack of safety procedures hurt me, and he did not care he proceeded to yell at us aggressively and quite frighteningly. So after the over priced room for a disgusting place that they overbooked us in, and getting hurt because of their laziness, we paid basically $400... could have stayed at the hilton. Honesty, dont know why we didnt so that was our bad. DO NOT GO HERE. do not give these people money. We will be...
