A colleague and I travelled to Santiago for a conference in the first week of July, 2023. The location of the hotel was fantastic. Very close to the metro, restaurants, shops, cafés, attractions etc. Our room was very nice. It was spacious with two double beds, a big wardrobe with space for hanging clothes and shelves for the both of us. The shower was very powerful and hot! Every day our room was cleaned and our pyjamas folded neatly on the bed. Towels were changed when we requested and extra towels provided when needed. In the evening, one of the team came to the room and gave us chocolates! There was a small kitchenette in the room and a fridge if needed. The breakfast was great - coffee, tea, cereal, juice, eggs, bread, ham, cheese, pastries and beautiful fresh fruit and yogurt. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and kind. They offered us advice and recommendatiins when we asked. My colleague had forgotten an adapter (we are from Ireland so needed one for our electronics) and they provided her with one to use for the week. The booked our taxi to the airport and provided an early breakfast also. We brought colleagues to the restaurant & they provided a 10% to all of us - not only the residents of the hotel. The manager provided us with a lovely bottle of camenere and chilean chocolate which was a lovely surprise at the end of our trip. We had a lovely experience in the hotel during our time there. There was a lovely atmosphere from every single staff member. Thank you all very much. If we ever return to Santiago, we will be back! Muchísimas...
Read moreI stayed at Hotel Diego Velazquez for 8 days in July 2023 with a friend and the hotel was truly fantastic. The staff are so personal and will accommodate any issues or queries. We met the same staff each day and the hotel manager went out of his way to greet all his guests and to chat and answer any questions or queries that guests had. I had forgotten an adaptor and they provided me with one, and we needed some printing for a conference we were attending, and again, the staff obliged without hesitation. ||Breakfast had everything we needed - plenty of choice and staff were always refilling the section. My departure was before breakfast, and staff arranged for me to have a small breakfast at 04.30 in the morning. ||Our room was big and we had two large double beds in our room, ample wardrobe space and an excellent hairdryer available too! Housekeeping was excellent. We ate in the hotel restaurant one evening and the meal was excellent. The location of the hotel couldn’t be better – the metro is a very short walk away, a shopping centre around the corner, a local shop across the street and cafes and restaurants everywhere. We got fabulous recommendations for cafes and restaurants and all were superb.||We didn’t use the small indoor pool or gym while we were there, but it is my understanding that these can be booked for personal use, at times you require, so once you book your slot in advance you will have use. ||I’d highly recommend this hotel for any stay in Santiago. It is absolutely fantastic value for...
Read moreWe are 2 senior citizens, bilingual in Spanish and English. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights either side of a short trip to Easter Island. The Diego de Valasquez is conveniently situated between Pedro de Valdivia and Los Leones metro stations that allow easy and cheap access to Santiago downtown. Providencia, where the hotel is situated, is a smart modern part of the city with an abundance of restaurants, fast food outlets and shops. The area feels safer than downtown. |The hotel, although dated, had clean rooms, hot water, AC and satellite TV. (Very few English channels). Breakfast included was more than adequate, although there were imited hot food options. |The only negative was the method of payment. We booked the hotel via the major online site and prices were quoted in USD. As a foreigner you can avoid paying local taxes if you pay in an accepted currency other than local CLP. ( PDI required ). We travel with pre- loaded multiple currency travel cards, in our case Wise and Revolut. Neither card was accepted at the hotel and we were required us to pay cash USD. This was somewhat surprising since we had used the cards without issue in restaurants and shops in Santiago and used them to pay for flights, food and accommodation on Easter Island. |The hotel was good but owing to the card issue, which we found suspicious, we would not stay there again. |As a side note, the hotel strictly enforces check-in and check-out times.
