California Cantina — Restaurant in Providencia

I was just here for last Sundays Dallas Vs Philadelphia Game. The place is an older house converted into a bar and is quite comfortable. This place obviously has all the NFL Football Games so this is the draw. Lots of Gringos here so lots of English being spoken, lots of traveling business men.

The Food:

I ordered an Overpriced hamburger and specifically stated that I did not want Jalapenos which were piled high on my burger. This is OK and I NEVER EVER send back food no matter what but my bartender (I was sitting at the bar to eat) spotted the Jalapenos and took it away from me.

When I got it back the Jalapenos were gone and the burger was dowsed in whatever sauce they use. No matter my face melted when I bit into the Burger because they just took their dirty fingers and dug them out of the burger instead of bringing me a new one. This is why I NEVER send back food. So I didn't eat it and I still had to pay for it. The food otherwise is decidedly average and overpriced, way better restaurants around Santiago and this forced American experience is decidedly forced and transparent.

The Beer:

Lots of beer choices, and you will pay for it. By far the most expensive beer I found in the city, everything is overpriced in this bar come to think of it.

The Verdict:

If you ABSOLUTELY need to catch an NFL game this is your place, otherwise skip it. I had to yell at my Bartender twice to put my game back on as it was switched to some Soccer game. I understand that Soccer is HUGE in South America however the Gimmick of this bar is a USA...

He tenido una semana de sobre carga laboral, muchas horas, fuera del horario estandard, de modo que necesitaba entretenerme, me hacía falta un relajo. Estaba buscando un bar en providencia para liberarme de esta temporada difícil y estresante, así que agarre el celular y puse "bar en providencia" en google maps, me sugirió este lugar dentro de los primeros. Me tincó su carta y las fotos que encontré en la aplicación.

Me fui caminando de mi oficina en las condes, que queda a algunos minutos de ahí mientras disfrutaba de la noche en providencia, los faroles de hierro fundido y las burbujas de vidrio que producen una romantica pasarela. El aire estaba fresco y humedo, algunas hojas de los arboles de arce que caracterizan las areas verdes de providencia, producían un mágico ambiente de otoño, o quiza que tanto estrés, necesito hacer cosas simples.

Llegue tarde, como a la media noche, al parecer estaba cerrada la entrada principal del bar. Por un costado se podia entrar a la discoteca. Me metí al bar que esta a un costado, recibieron bien y me atendieron con mucha amabilidad en la barra. Pedí algo con limón, me ofrecieron un mojito, pero opte por un Moscow Mule, que me sirvieron en un linda taza hecha de cobre, que no solo tiene una finalidad estética, si no, que además mejora el sabor de la preparación. He visto en otros lugares que te lo sirven en vasos de acero pintados con color cobre pero con distinto sabor. Con hambre ya a esa hora, también pedí papas fritas y me dieron una generosa porción que me dejo satisfecho hasta el día siguiente. Decidí pagar inmediatamente la cuenta del bar, por si surgía la necesidad de irme, no es normal que trabaje hasta tan tarde y estaba atento por si recibía una llamada desde mi casa para que me fuera, pero se demoraron algunos minutos en traerme la cuenta, eso es algo por mejorar quiza, pero estaba todo tan rico y me sentí tan bien en el lugar, que ni me fije en el detalle y solo pagué.

Pasé por la discoteca un rato, se veia muy entretenida, y si no fuera por que venía de una jornada larga, me habría puesto a bailar. Me terminé el Moscow Mule, las papas fritas y me fui a mi casa. Se cumplió el objetivo, fue relajante y desestresante. Aunque hacía algo de frio, casi no lo sentí por el alcohol, mañana dormire una hora menos jeje, aunque valió la pena.

Creo que volveré a ir, es fácil llegar, bastante céntrico, en un lugar de fácil acceso en providencia, esta abierto toda la semana y cierran tarde, ideal para los trabajolicos como yo que necesitan un respiro de sus oficinas - trabajo - jefes y esposas -...

Went for NFL games because of the review recommendations. The owner is a Commanders fan so wouldn’t play any other game (on multiple tvs) than his. The food was ok, so was the service but it’s run more like a club for him and his friends than a business. There was also no toilet paper OR hand paper towels in the women’s room. I didn’t go back the next week for NFL.

MOST DEFINITELY NOT A FAKE REVIEW. maybe it was the manager but it absolutely happened. They played the patriots Sunday November 5th and I was forced to sit through that on all 4 tvs. The manager or whomever in charge couldn’t get the games on at all at first then once it worked, he sat outside with friends the entire game.
