I normally take my time to deliver a review. This time I won't.
De la Ostia pretends to offer you an Spanish "tapas" bar experience. I'm not really sure if it's near
Many tables to a few waiters in a little bit complex architecture place. Many blind spots that waiters cannot see clients urged to be attended.
It's not a cheap place at all, so you could expect a magnificent service...but it's not possible with a few people to serve.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not unsatisfied with people serving...but the amount of waiters it's simply not enough.
The bar seems always to be crowded at full capacity, it's popular, but it doesn't mean it's great or good enough.
We ordered the following: -Pulpo a la gallega. Too Few octopus slices, flavourless potatoes. -Morcilla de arroz. Sweet but misses something like a bit spicy touch. -Callos a la madrileña. Must have consistency. Its not a simple potato/water soup.... -Variat. Flavourless cheese and ham.... -Tortilla. Good but misses paprika cuts.... -Huevos estrellados chorizo .... simple...good enough -Tapa morruna....Fail..... -Moritz lager....they told me it's the house star.....too simple, considering the mix of flavours you'll supposed to have there...
I will not add any photos because there are many of them available and really the menu will not lie to you.
In my mother country (not Spain), the Spanish migrant community cuisine is well known by a GREAT experience....flavours and quality.
That's why I ordered "tapas" which characteristic flavour will be enjoyed almost by everyone.... Normally no Spanish restaurant will fail on that.
For me and my wife, the flavour, the original nature of Spanish kitchen magic wasn't there. Disappointed.
Maybe I'm being rude, but can't avoid the responsibility to advise another people. The decision is always yours.
De la Ostia maybe was designed to be a nice place to see people and to be seen....a fashioned bar ..... But it's not a good Spanish flavours place to go.
If you just want to have a good time with friends but no other expectations, give them a chance....
I'll continue to look for a real good Spanish great restaurant/bar to taste again the spectacular flavours of Spanish cuisines I love.
No need to be a fancy or a super expensive place....just a place where love and care for details it's present...
Read moreFun place and great tapas style restaurant and reasonable priced in the city. There were so many options to choose from and all tasted great. The menu is on the table and the place is very casual. We had some tapas after a day of exploring the wineries and all was on point and satisfying. See what we ordered below:
Revuelto de Setas - we had this with the jamon and it was great. Mushrooms, eggs, and ham was the perfect mix. We had to order a second one it was so delicious.
Pintxo Cojonudo - This chorizo and egg toast was AMAZING. Be careful as it is a little spicy, but if you like spice you would love this dish. It was SO GREAT that we had to order another round.
Calamares - a basic but great tasting calamari. I wouldn't tell you not to order it, but I also wouldn't say you "have" to order it.
Garbanzos - these were definitely flavorful and I enjoyed them. This wouldn't typically be a dish I would order, but I definitely appreciated the...
Read moreIt's a busy somewhat dissarrayed environment that suggests the charm of a local joint in any small Spanish town or even a forgotten corner of Madrid. Food is excellent as far as I can tell since, it's a frequent choice, I tend to prefer the fish and seafood side of the extensive menu of tapas. Table service has always been friendly and fast, and the beer choices are perfect for the many intense flavors. Try to get seated in my favorite corner, a set of tables by some old fashioned windows facing the street, unless you enjoy the eating and smoking amidst the sidewalk traffic. Prices are reasonable for a place with no glossy frills but great food. It is situated in a great street with contrasting and diverse neighboring shops that can make the trip to this nook in Santiago a bit more than just a meal. Parking can be a challenge but it is an...
