Amistar Apart Hotel — Hotel in Santiago

Overall a pretty pleasant experience with only a few minor problems. Finding the location itself (and then finding parking) was not the easiest process, but once I found the correct building and the very helpful Amistar representative found me, it went smoothly from there. I was given a walkthrough of where to park as well as the apartment itself. Parking is relatively secure, as you are provided an access card to open the gate.

The one bedroom apartment is a perfect size for a solo traveler, with all of the right features - gas stove, refrigerator, cookware/utensils, extra blankets, as well as the typical things you find in a hotel such as an iron and hair dryer. A nice number of power outlets, though they’re not always in the most convenient locations. (There’s no outlet at the counter that divides the kitchen from the living room, for example. So there’s no easy way to have a computer plugged in while you’re using it anywhere in the apartment. Not without an extra long cable, anyway.) Overall the apartment is very comfortable and well-appointed. A desk with a decent chair would have been nice as the stools provided for the counter aren't the most comfortable, but that's not a big deal.

The building itself is very nicely situated within Santiago as well. There is a grocery market (Express de Lider) right next door which is very convenient, and there’s a Starbucks across the street if you’re into that sort of thing. (I’d rather enjoy the local fare, but to each their own.)

The biggest problem I had during my stay was with the air conditioning unit. The remote control was totally inoperable when I first got to the apartment. I went down to the office and a maintenance person came up to check it out. He swapped out the remote with another one which worked when he left, but only long enough to turn on the AC. After leaving for a little while, I found that the replacement remote had also died. The primary way to contact the office is through WhatsApp, which isn’t great since I found them to be less than responsive. A day after contacting them to let them know the AC was once again nonfunctional, I have yet to receive a reply. (EDIT: Shortly after posting this review, the staff got in touch to provide me with a functional AC remote and to offer me a more comfortable chair.)

The problems, as I said, have all been minor. I can still easily recommend Amistar Apartments for a stay...

The accommodations are 2-stars, based on US standards. However, I am adding two more stars for the excellent location and the friendly service of the staff.

These are units within a 22-storied high rise apartment. Management has secured quite a few units and rents them out like AirBnB. The unit I rented is a small one-bedroom unit. It has a small but adequate kitchen, a queen bed in the bedroom, a sofa bed and love seat in the living room. Functional but by no means luxurious. The unit also looks a bit old and worn, in need for some remodeling or a facelift. For U. S. travelers, I would compare this to a Motel 6, not a Ritz Carlton.

As for the location, it is perfect for a medium to long term stay. A good size supermarket is right downstairs, two pharmacies on the same block, a variety of eateries within 5 minutes walk. (We absolutely loved Croq Délice, a Parisian café across the street!) You can look on the map and see that it is near (walking distance) museums, cathedrals, bus and transit stops, etc.

The manager went out his way to help make our stay comfortable. I contacted him the week before arrival and he arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport (US$30) and brought us to our apartment. Our flight came in at 7AM and he made sure our unit was available upon our early-morning arrival. That’s a Godsend after a 10-hour red-eye flight! When I text him about something, he would respond right away with an answer or suggestion. For example, I thought I did not bring the correct power adapter for the three-hole straight-line power outlets, he showed up with one within 30 minutes and informed me that there is an electronic store on the same block where I could get more if I needed.

In summary: Would I stay here again? - Most definitely! Would I recommend this to my friends? - Only if they have the right...

Há uma cama de casa, um cama dobrável e ... um sofá cama. 03: Sim, tem TV de tela plana. Mas a TV está no quarto. 04: Não tem cadeiras ou sofá para nenhuma das quatro pessoas: ou fica de pé, ou senta na banqueta da cozinha ou senta/deita na cama, ou via disputar um banco ou mureta na rua. E, não tem nenhum móvel na recepção... não tem recepção... é um prédio/condomínio normal; Atenção 05: Sim, quem mora no prédio/condomínio se sente incomodado com o entra e saí de gente !temporária", barulho com malas e etc. Esse condômino pode estar no apartamento do lado ou na frente do seu. 06: Sim, o condomínio vira um inferno quando falta água e/ou quebra elevador. 07: Não tem máquina da lavar no apartamento... apesar de ser APARTAMENTO. 08: Não tem limpeza diária. Tem um dia sim e dois seguidos não tem. Se não trocam a toalha no dia da limpeza... se não se repõe shampoo e sabonete... sim, fica-se sem durante dias. 09: Sim, a limpeza é precária. 10: Não, a limpeza não inclui a cozinha! 11: Não, a lavanderia não é no mesmo bloco. Você tem que descer, sair do bloco, entrar em outro bloco, subir até o andar da lavanderia e... boa sorte. E tem que voltar tudo isso. 12: Sim, tem piscina, no último andar de um terceiro bloco. Mas não dá para dizer que tem piscina quando ela está, digamos, fechada... 13: Sim, o serviço da administração, num apartamento de um andar qualquer do bloco, é ruim. É ruim porque você, cliente, é quem tem que esperar pelo atendimento. Eles estão sobrecarregados de serviço (no alta temporada)! Esse ônus é seu. 14: Sim, a localização é boa, há melhor. Muito difícil para chegar de carro ou transporte nos horários de pico. 15: Sim, você tem que dar caução para poder pegar a chave (cartão) da porta. E lembrar a senha de oito dígitos... Tem o incômodo de ter que devolver o cartão. 16: Sim, o prédio é feio. Os corredores são feios. 17: Sim, tem mais de uma empresa explorando os apartamentos do mesmo condomínio. Fique atento para não pegar outra empresa da mesma coisa. 18: Sim, procure dicas e orientações em outro lugar. Um mapa, facilmente encontrado em qualquer lugar é bem melhor. O GPS de qualquer smartphone pode lhe ajudar a perder menos tempo. 19: Sim, tem um mercado na mesma edificação. Basta entrar ou sair pela rua do outro lado. Isso dá um a confusão com os agentes de Turismo... 20: Sim, tem estacionamento, desde que,você pague. Procure um estacionamento público próximo. Funciona melhor e é mais fácil do que conseguir informações na administração do prédio. 21: Sim, atende por WHATSAPP. Boa sorte se quiser usá-lo e ser atendido no que você vai precisar de fato. Resposta vem quando interessa a eles. 22: Sim, tem WI-FI, ruim. Daquele maravilhoso estilo padrão: pega nem sempre, baixa velocidade, segurança duvidosa. 23: Não compre os passeios deles. É caro e duvidoso. Por mais que tenha promessa de desconto em outras coisas, sai caro demais. 24: Não compre o translado aeroporto/ap/aeroporto. É muito caro. Os taxis são bons e bem mais baratos. Cuidado com Uber e Cabify, pois eles também podem não ser confiáveis, pedindo para você cancelar a corrida situação que você paga. 25: Sim, fazer a avaliação é difícil e somente algumas poucas, das melhores, são apresentadas e, no caso de algumas ruinzinhas, para disfarçar, tem sempre como culpado o próprio avaliador apontado. 26: Não confie nas estrelas totais dadas no TripAdvaisor porque não é uma amostra grande e... Não estou aqui para difamar o TripAdvaisor porque acredito que eles não tem culpa da manipulação realizada. 27: Não tem negociação com a questão do imposto IVA. 00: Eu tentei não fazer juízo de valor porque tem famílias dependendo desse trabalho. Depois de pensar melhor : tem muitas pessoas sendo exploradas por eles. E, tem muita agente sendo prejudicada com isso (por exemplo, o ex garçom do Jô Soares,...
