I stayed in the hotel for a total of four nights, and would absolutely stay here again. The hotel is centrally located, and has a quaint charm about it. The rooms are very basic, but the bed and pillows are comfortable, the water is hot and there’s great water pressure. The breakfast is superb. The yogurt, jam, and juice every morning is homemade. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, and they speak perfect English. There is a 24-hour reception desk and there is a laundry service. I found the hotel to be a great base of operations for touring the city. A few things could be improved upon: the bedspread I had on my first day was quite grimy, there is no glass for water in the bathroom, and my ultimate pet peeve with hotel bathrooms is that there was no table on which to set your shaving kit (my first room had a very small bathroom). Other than that, I have no complaints.

I can’t say how much I love this hostel. You have your personal room and it’s nice and clean. They provide all essential services just like a regular hotel and the included breakfast is the best I’ve ever had!(love their home made yogurt and jam) Staff are extremely helpful in finding local tips as well and the location is certainly amazing! ***One thing though because the riots in Chile around the time of my visit you might experience difficulty traveling especially this location is pretty close to a daily demonstration spot when I was living there. So plan your trip accordingly.

Very friendly, and cute casa dog. Stayed in a private room which was very nice. Large room with high ceeling. The story goes that this was the first hostel to open in Santiago, don't know if it's true, but they do know how to run a hostel. If you book a taxi to the airport via the hostel you pay 18k. Two weeks earlier when I booked a taxi to the airport from another hostel I was staying at in Santiago, I payed 12k. Breakfast is great, and so is the common area. The bar is much appreciated, and they have food a la carte. I would stay here again.

I stayed at the Hostal Rio Amazonas for four nights in December when visiting a conference in Santiago de Chile. What a wonderful place! I had booked online on their own website (very easy and safe) and had sent a question on transfers afterwards. I got a very fast and friendly reply, so the nice experience started with the booking already. When I arrived at the hostal, a driver organized by the hostal waited for me and drove me to the hostal. Very friendly welcome! It was pretty early so my room was not yet ready, but I was able to sit in the beautiful inner courtyard (I did so each day from that time on) and enjoy a freshly squeezed juice. After not even another hour, I got the key to my room, a superior single one (with a matrimonial bed). Pretty large, very comfortable bed and beautiful old windows with a view to the street and the Andes in the background.|After exploring the city this first day, which is very easy due to the hostal's prime location, I slept very well and enjoyed the very nice breakfast the next morning, again in the amazing inner courtyard. The hostal has a café and restaurant as well, but I only tried their juices which were always great.|Personally, I think that I could not have made a better choice with this great hostal. I liked the location just a few steps from Baquedano metro station, and I always felt very safe on the street. The hostal is an easy walk from the funicular station, too, that brings you to the top of Cerro San Cristobal. And many nice areas such as Barrio Lastarria can be reached by foot as well. Add the beautiful and comfortable room, the excellent wifi, the nice breakfast and the so very lovely people, who work there! I truly enjoyed my stay and cannot...

I booked this Hostal based on reviews on Trip Advisor. I must have gotten the one tiny sized room in the whole place. The overall building is beautiful, location superb, staff wonderful, and breakfast perfect. Communication before arrival was perfect and they helped booked taxis and recommended tours! ||I reserved a single room that contained a bed, nightstand, and private bathroom. There was no space to put my suitcase so I ended up having to walk over it to get to the bathroom. There was one window that opened inside to the (cute) courtyard and hallway, which unfortunately meant constant noise all night and limited privacy as you can see in the window from the hallway. But if you close the window, there is no circulation and it is too hot to sleep. So, I cracked the window and listened to the doorbell ringing all night when guests return, people talking in the hallway and courtyard, doors closing, neighbors coming back at all hours of the night, etc. ||I know this is advertised as a hostel, so I should have expected what I got. But I just want to let others know that will be booking single rooms that you may get the same "room" that I had. I would definitely stay here again, but I absolutely would pay more for a double room and not a single. Two nights of no sleep after traveling internationally...
