Enjoyed a 3 night stay here in March with our two teenage boys. |We were in rooms 1 + 2 , which was booked as the Family Room. It was through a little sliding frosted glass door, and had two separate bedrooms with a bathroom in between. One room was a queen bed and the other had two singles. Perfect for families with two older kids. Single bed room had a TV with local channels, the queen room had no TV. |Bathroom had a shower which had plenty of hot water but the water pressure is very low. You also cannot throw your toilet paper in the toilet here, has to go in the garbage. There was body wash in a dispenser in the shower, but no other amenities provided (such as shampoo, conditioner, etc). There was no hairdryer either but I did see someone returning a hair dryer to the front desk, so it seems they have one you can borrow. Pillows were a little hard and lumpy but the sheets were very soft and we were plenty warm (it gets cold in the mountains at night)|Breakfast was included and served on site in a small dining room. The hotel only seems to have 6 or 7 rooms, so there was always space to sit. Breakfast was a choice of either pancakes or eggs+toast. Both are served with a small bowl of fruit and tea/coffee/juice |Staff is lovely. Seems to be maybe a family who owns and runs it. They were all very friendly and helpful whenever we had questions. |Location is great as it’s not too far out of the way but a little quieter than being right downtown . You can easily walk to restaurants and the little downtown area of Santa Elena. Keep hotel distance in mind as something important because even though things look close on a map, it is all steep hills and you don’t want to walk too far. |Overall a great stay and good value....
Read moreFantastic hospitality at this family run place. They have both shared and private room options. We paid for a private room and bathroom which were both very clean and spacious. They provided a home cooked breakfast included with the room. They watched our luggage for us after we checked out so we could walk around before our shuttle came and let us come back to eat a snack in the shared kitchen before departing. They can help you book any type of tour in the area or transfer to your next destination. I loved that the hotel (and seemingly this whole country) was conscious about sustainability. The location is between the Monteverde reserve and the town of Santa Elena. There was one restaurant right next door (Italian food) a few more in the mini mall 6 mins walk down the road and many more in the town (10 mins walk). My only advice about this place is to bring ear plugs. The walls are very thin. If you are even having a normal level conversation, the person in the next room can hear you clearly. The wind also sounds much louder inside than outside for some reason. Must be the building acoustics or its location on the hill. Regardless, this is an excellent option for those looking to save a little money, but still enjoy the comforts that most nicer...
Read moreAwesome hotel! I paid 20300 crc for one night for a double bed. We had a shared bathroom, which was very clean and the shower was very spacious! The bed was comfortable and clean, I could not ask for anything more. The person who helped us at the reception was very kind and genuine, he made us feel very welcomed, I think this hotel is a family run business and they sure do it well! Really great customer service! The hotel had free breakfast, fruits, toast, pancake, juice and coffee. The only thing I should mention that could be important for someone with a physical disability or have weak physical capability is that the hotel is 10 minutes walk from the town center...10 mins is usually not bad but it is worth mentioning because there is uphill and downhill a lot to get to the hotel. There is only one road and you need to go pretty uphill (some part had 45 degrees angle of a hill). You also need to walk uphill on gravel to enter the hotel entrance. So for older folks and people with limited physical capabilities, I would reconsider choosing this place. However, that is the only disclaimer I could think of for this hotel. I highly recommend this place, it is run by very friendly humans and the place is...
