Ordered chicken Parm of the menu, got a fettuccine Alfredo with chicken instead. Ate it because why not, only to get the worst food poisoning one can imagine. Should have been obvious considering the dozens of flies buzzing around when we sat at our first table (had to ask to move because it was so bad). Not a recommended experience.
Edit: Not sure how writing an essay is accepting one's feedback, but regardless of all the pretty words.. here I am 36 hours later still experiencing nonstop diarrhea. How was i supposed to forewarn you about that? By my fly observation? I've eaten in over 2 dozen Costa Rican restaurants and none of them had the infestation that yours did, so don't blame the beautiful mountains. In the "better" table I was moved to, there was a dead fly on my "brand new" napkin.. I can't help you guys fix your problems of not caring, that has to come from you. Not sure why it's the customers fault the restaurant is filthy. And you weren't there.. our server, and the only person in the store, was a young small woman, so how then would have I let you know?? Seems like everything you say is questionable in it's truth.. lastly, I didn't complain about getting fettuccine Alfredo instead because I didn't mind, I was hungry and just wanted to eat. But once I realized I was poisoned, I figured I'd note that factoid as well. Do me a favor.. type chicken Parm (as the item is titled in your menu) in Google Images and see what comes up.. that my friend is what a chicken Parm is, not the fettuccine Alfredo you...
Read moreHaving read the reviews, we decided to give this place a go... Never been so surprised in a such highly rated restaurant. Starter was a tomato soup with a mix of fish (fish, prawns, mussels etc). I'm 99% sure not a single ingredient was fresh, the prawns were chewy like gum, and so was the fish, which funnily enough had the shape of a cube 😅. Main courses: Their special hamburger, honestly best part was the fries, which maybe were homemade. Once again the freshness of the patty is in question here, pretty sure it's another piece of frozen meat, and the burger as whole, nothing special. Main course number 2: tagliatelle with koriander pesto. Completely swimming in the pesto, the amount of oil in the pesto was so high that after 3 bites it was impossible to eat. To add to this, we ordered it with extra prawns, and despite being the only table in the place, they somehow managed to forget the prawns. In hindsight, it was for the best, paying 5 dollars for prawn-gum is maybe an overkill. All in all, I'm sorry to say, but I completely disagree with all the reviews, value for money and quality in general is close to zero for me, would...
Read moreWhat a find in this touristy town. We stumbled into this family owned restaurant for lunch. Food was too good to have it only for one meal and we came back for dinner as well. LUNCH: Ravioli with vegetables was simple yet super fresh and well seasoned. I ordered a salad, came out so beautiful, almost a fine dining grade. Pesto pasta was the best dish that we had, the Costa Rican cilantro added a unique flavor! Beef panini probably deserves the least accolades but still decent. DINNER: Everything was truly above our expectations which had been pretty high already. Rice with shrimp was so flavorful and the texture was just spot on. Shrimp fettuccine couldn’t have been seasoned better, noodles were perfectly al dente. Beef tenderloin was cooked medium rare, ceviche was really fresh and delicious. Lastly the passion fruit cheese cake and brownie came out at the right temperature, and just the right sweetness. How could you turn such plain desserts so uniquely yummy? Biggest kudos...
