I went to the restaurant today for lunch. Ordered a pineapple smoothie which was not bad and a pizza while waiting for my partner to arrive to eat there and a hamburger to go for a fellow workmate. The pizza took extremely long and we had to ask for it and also I had to return to work. When it came out it was room temperature and we couldn’t separate the pieces. Everything happened so fast and I didn’t understand Spanish. My partner was a bit peeved and asked for something to cut the pizza but got told to leave. I was left at the table and couldn’t believe what just happened. Embarrassed for everyone involved I asked to box it and go. When I got to work and calmed myself down I went to grab a piece of pizza and the dough was very thin and hard as a rock! That’s why the pizza did not cut. This is what started all this misunderstanding. And I think the cook thought everything I ordered was takeout and packed it all up. When they realized that they didn’t warm up the pizza. I believe that the whole situation should have been handled better. It ruined my lunch and my day! So yes the pizza dough and customer service definitely need...
Read moreThis was the first place I ate in Monteverde when I arrived. I really wanted to come back but ran out of time. I had my first casado and it was delicious. I tried to eat it all, but I couldn't. Very healthy portion and super fair price. I asked fir some hot sauce and was given a homemade habanero sauce that was incredible. If they sold that stuff in a jar, I would have bought some to bring home. Not super spicy, but very very flavorful. So good. I believe my server Juan was also the owner He was very friendly and helpful. Had a great conversation with him regarding some cultural questions I had about Costa Rica, as well as plans for future travel destinations. I really enjoyed it. Enjoy Patagonia Juan! That trip sounds epic. He was playing a reggae concert on the tv which really enhanced my enjoyment of the meal. This is an unassuming, comfy place with lots of tasty looking menu items....
Read moreVery pricey for what you get (14,091 colones ($30 USD)) for 2 orders of a relatively small and just "okay" pollo quesdilla and a few fries. About a 40 minute wait despite it not being crowded, which seemed long. People at at least one table got up to ask how much longer their food would be too. Not sure why this place is rated so highly.
As a comparison, we were boring and happened to get the same thing (2 quesaddillas) at Restaurante Don Luis just next door just the day prior and it was slightly more at 14,617.89 colones for the two pollo quesadillas but they were larger, better, and served...
