Costa Rica Tours — Local services in Monteverde

We had a truly fantastic experience with the zipline at Nativo, booked through "Monteverde Tours Costarica" and they were absolutely top notch from beginning to end. After weeks and weeks of searching they were basically the only tour operator that was able to offer the Nativo canopy zipline from Puerto Limon where we were arriving, also for a very reasonable cost. Communication was also top notch and we found our driver immediately at the port. The zipline/canopy tour in Nativo is just beyond words. The staff isedibly professional and competent. Safety is paramaount but the beauty and the fun of the activities is overwhelming. There are 18 zip lines over a length of 2 kilometres, including the "tarzan" and "superman" lines. It is highly regarded to all families as it's a beautiful, bonding and deeply fun activity for all ages. When you get back you will also get complimentary fresh fruits. As we had some extra time, Monteverde Tours Costarica also arranged gor for us a boat tour in the Tortuguero canals. All last minute and again very good value for money. Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware!

I booked multiple shuttles and tours with them, and that was all satisfactory. Their communication at that stage was responsive. And one of the drivers, Frank, became a good friend during the tours.

The reason for the 1 star rating is due to a problem with the refund of a substantial amount of money. We ended up canceling one of the tours, and they promised they'd refund the amount to our credit card. Their communication from this point on became sporadic. Even after months of patient follow ups, all we received from them are constant empty promises. About 2 months after the refund was initially supposed to have been made, they told us that the refund was actually not initiated from their end. Let me start by saying this is reviewing the 3rd party organizers not the rafting company.

Booked our adventure before we got to Costa Rica with no problems. However on the day of the tour the company did not show up within an hours window of listed time. You can see in the conversation I finally got in touch through Instagram after other failed attempts to reach them. Then we were talking to another party, the next day after everything had to be rescheduled, and they had to wait 45 minutes past their listed pickup time. I would think they would value their customer's time but it is apparent that the third party company really only is there for a credit card processing and the website hosting capabilities.
