**update following reply from host response** - below is clearly from the perspective of mountain Faro. The room was only cleaned once we highlighted the poor cleanliness and had to cleaned again the following day when we highlighted the damp sheets. In terms of the transport, we had confirmed transfers in timely manner and were waiting on host for confirmation as were under the impression these had been booked for us. The delay was due to the host changing the agreed booking. The second transfer was also not as we agreed (from hotel to hotel) and we asked for a price reduction to compensate the need for a taxi to get us from new drop off to our hotel, which the host would not agree to. Just our experience for other guests. I’ll start with the positives, the room is quite big and equipped with AC, fridge and private bathroom Now I’ll move onto the negatives, the first room was okay but the patio style door wouldn’t lock. The second room was smaller, dusty, musty smelling and dirty with about 15ants chilling all over the floor. The room was cleaned when requested but did ask us if we would like to leave (rather than just have a clean room). We then tried to book shuttles via the family company, which was negotiated at the time and confirmed with payment to be made in cash once we’d visited a bank. Later that same day, we were then told one of our transfers wouldn’t be from hotel to hotel as promised and had a rather lengthy WhatsApp battle over message/voicenote/call during a night tour to try to resolve. It wasn’t and put us under unnecessary stress during a trip but also without transport the following day. Seems a lot of others enjoyed their stay, but this wasn’t our experience and hope the family resolve these issues for future guests.

This is a small, welcoming place with just a few rooms located off the main road in Santa Elena/Monteverde area. It is apparently run by a nice family. Even though we already had an itinerary decided, they can set up tours or experiences for you if you need help with that. The rooms were very clean and the showers were very big and nice. Our sink only had cold water (the shower is normal with hot & cold faucets). Note that if you have a car, you have to drive up a short very steep gravel road to get to their location. They prepare a simple breakfast for their guests every morning (coffee, eggs, fruit, toast).

The room was small and included a full size bed and bunk beds. It had a sewer smell. I would have preferred a queen bed and dresser or desk, or even closet, some place other than the bunk bed to unpack luggage. The staff were very friendly and kind. Only one family member spoke English well and another spoken limited English. It was walkable to town for a fairly active person. We enjoyed the nearby orchid tour and really enjoyed Tiko’s cafe.

This is a quaint little b&b tucked off the beaten path in Monteverde. This was not our first choice for a hotel, but when we found out our choice was booked, our travel agent suggested mountain faro. At first, we were hesitant; there were only a handful of reviews on various travel sites. Upon arrival, we were not disappointed. The family were all incredibly welcoming during our stay. When we first arrived and were lead to our room, I was surprised when she started unlocking a patio door, and more surprised when we saw the size of the room. It wasn't quite what I was expecting; the door was a large, sliding patio door, and the cozy room was just large enough to comfortably fit the bed with a small nook for the refrigerator. After my initial surprise, I actually kind of like the cozy size. Half a large hotel room is wasted space for us, so the room size was actually perfect. The bathroom, on the other hand, was quite spacious. The shower was huge! And there was actually a shelf big enough to place all our toiletries without any falling off!!! As far as location, the shopping center is a short couple minute walk down the hill, and the town center is a couple minutes further down the same road. There were many fantastic restaurants within 10 minutes, and plenty of attractions as well. It should also be noted that this hotel is located up a very steep hill that is not for those with cardiac or mobility issues. Parking is limited, however. We walked or scheduled transport for everything, so this wasn't an issue for us, however this was an issue for other guests. The service was really fantastic. Our first afternoon, they made a point to stop in to check how we were doing, make sure everything was going well with the room, and asked us when we usually take our breakfast. Breakfast is cooked fresh each morning by the family, and they're happy to make your favorite. All in all, this is a very cozy new b&b! However, since it is so new, there are a few kinks in the details that would really help take this place up a notch. First, the patio doors are a great source of natural light, but they offer no privacy. Closing the curtains offers privacy, but they're blackout curtains, so they cut off the only source of natural light. It would have been very nice to have a sheer privacy curtain between the blackout curtains and the doors so we could let in the natural light without sacrificing privacy. Second, the bed was a queen sized bed, but there was only one nightstand. This meant both our phones, watches, wallets, eye glasses, books, and other bedside table sundries had to be on one side of the bed or across the room. It would have been more pleasant to have a second nightstand with either built in power outlets or a lamp with additional outlets so we didn't have to scatter important things like eye glasses and phones around the room. These were really the only issues with our stay. I would definitely recommend this place to someone looking for a cozy, relaxing b&b for...

I booked the Horseback riding, hike in Cloud forest when I called Tripadvisor the man on the phone told me to book this room. I called Lady, who has no clue how to be one. She was very kind and said they only accepted cash. So I went looking for a bank and walked back to pay her but the doors we locked. So I did and tried the next day, surprise the doors were locked, so I called her and she never came back. It was only 80 for 2 night but when I tried to pay her in Colones she kept changing to total. I then said no, I want to pay in US dollars only because she cant take advantage. I asked a couple that was staying next door and they were being overcharge by Lady over transportation that is included in there package. Lady spends ALOT of time running her mouth and not saving anything. She loves to waste time instead of just showing and getting paid. The room had mold and the TV stopped working. When the police arrived they said they were called because I was aggressive and I ask how? Did curse or raise my voice at any point the little brat said its my tone. They sent a little girl to come be the translator and she was dancing in front on my camera as I filmed. Thank God for the other guest that came out and made sure I was okay. Me being me and refusing to let the vile people traumatize me for no reason. On the check out I put the room key in toilet. Lol Do you that I took my group shuttle heading to La Fortuna and Lady radio the drive to stop the shuttle and call the police again. A whole other driver got involve to yell at me while other passengers were there. To hold up everyone else while they yelled in Spanish at me. I assume the police refuse to come out a second time so we proceed to the boat. Smh. I am SO blessed God put the right people around me who literally embraced me and didnt allow anyone to harm me. You dont have to put up with racism, you CAN...
