Guesthouse Lion, Split — Hotel in Grad Split

This company has a portfolio of flats (some better, some much worse), but gives the same glowing description for all of them with luxuries including balcony, patio, garden view, kitchen with cooking facilities, dining area, TV & internet, air conditioning, coffee maker, safety deposit box, etc. They also offer free parking – this is street-parking on a street so narrow that the half the car is on the pavement.||||There was nobody to meet us when we arrived. When we phoned for somebody to come, we were informed that we had to collect the keys from the ‘office’ which was upstairs in a separate building, down a path further down the street, with no sign-posting. We were then told that there was a 'problem' with the apartment we’d booked and we were taken off to a different property on another street.||||There was no view of any kind; the only window faced onto a wall about a foot away. ||||The TV was the size of a small PC monitor and it didn’t work (no signal) – we were told that there was a PC we could use, but that didn’t work either. When we asked them to provide a TV, we were told it would take 2 days to repair and that we should just use our own devices.||||The place was not particularly clean and the sheets and towels were like scratchy cardboard. I couldn't sleep in the bedroom due to a bright streetlight shining onto the bed (no curtains) and I resorted to sleeping on a sofa in the dining room. There was no coffee maker, safety deposit box, etc. and the agent had to return after we’d checked in to put a light bulb in the bathroom.||||The ONLY good thing about this property was its location, around 5-10 minutes’ walk to the Old City walls.||||You might be lucky and get one of the better properties, but I wouldn’t take the risk. TOURIST SCAM - DON’T BOOK OR CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION

No communication in front. We tried to have contact twice about our arrival time… The address is real but as soon as you call them that you have arrived, the’ll tell you to drop by globe travel (a travel agency). Because the guesthouse Lion is unavailable and they can provide you another location at the suburbs or outside of town. We met a group of boys at the travel agency as well, who booked at the same manager only a different house. They had the exact same problem.
