Hotel Atlas — Hotel in okres České Budějovice

I'll freely admit that being in Ceske Budejovice for the weekend was the tour manager's idea, so he could pop off home and spend time with his family (lucky for some.) It's not exactly a must-go destination despite its attractive old town square and time-travel Communist-era atmosphere on its estates and suburbs. And the Atlas itself is quirky to say the least. The rooms seem to have been decorated by someone in the grip of a bad acid experience: garish greens and oranges abound. They don't service the rooms unless you ask ("we leave the guests to themselves".) The showers are attached to the bathroom sinks (another Iron Curtain relic, apparently.) But they were lovely obliging people (always ready to make you a mug of tea, for instance - which didn't appear on my bill), it was surprisingly comfortable, they have table tennis in the back garden, it was cheap, and THE WI-FI INTERNET WORKED REALLY WELL. For which they get an extra star in my new campaign against wi-fi ripoffs. There's a good pub on the corner nearby that does decent food. Let´s manage expectations: it is a former residential building transformed into a hotel, or sort of. Reception is on call, no 24/7 presence and breakfast is fairly basic, yet you will not be leaving hungry either. On the other hand, the rooms are clean, large and well equipped, and the ones facing the backyard are very quiet. Location is good, 10 minutes to downtown. And it´s quite cheap, so value for money is excellent. If you want a 4* international service, head for the Clarion right across the street, if you just need a decently priced, ok-ish single-night crashpad, you will...

Good position, close to the city center, a mall is also nearby.||There is no parking possibility, just the city street parking where you found a place, if you found, and you have to pay every day for it.||We booked for 3 persons: 2 adult and 1 child, the lady tried to charged us 50% more because of our child then when I wanted to pay she said cash would be better, even it was written that card payment is possible and stuff like this which are really annoying these days.||The reception is a bar , there you have also your breakfast which was quite poor.||No English , Very...
